The recent RSS functionality in the reference WebUI implementation (#12557) is quite important for non-GUI users to manage RSS subscriptions. I wonder if @seprode has more improvement to this function? If not, could you please release 4.2.6 ASAP since many private tracker users are waiting for it. Many of them install qBittorrent on NAS or remote host, which made them can only access and manage it via WebUI. Thanks!

When the maintainer appears again. Making such issues is pointless.

I currently don't plan on expanding the WebUI RSS functionality further.
There are many things that could still be implemented to make it more even with the desktop version:

  • Resizable columns view
  • Drag and drop moving of feeds/folders
  • autoDownloader import and export rules

If bugs appear in the current solution I would be happy to fix them.

@tomyang001 You can already run 4.3 if you want it earlier
docker pull linuxserver/qbittorrent:4.3.0202006200318-7013-602e6b5ubuntu18.04.1-ls53

@seprode So approximately how long do the improvements need? Or I wonder if it's possible that release 4.2.6 first and make improvements in future releases if there's no serious bugs now. Since English is not my native language, please forgive me if I say something rude. Thanks for your hard work of qbittorrent.

I already implemented the features of the RSS WebUI that I found most important. I do not plan on adding the other things I listed. If bugs arise with the current implementation I will fix them.

If you really want the RSS WebUI right now you have two option:

  1. Run a version directly build from the master. So either with docker like above or compiling yourself.
  2. Use the current files from the master as an alternative WebUI. Though some related bugs like the renaming rules one will still be present.

@seprode Thanks for your reply.

It seems that I misunderstood what you said, I thought these are improvements that will be made.

So it's just waiting for bug reports and fixs now? Is there any schedule of 4.2.6?

At least for me yes, though I am not a project maintainer. I just implemented this feature because I wanted it. If you can, please test the feature and report any bugs.

Is there any schedule of 4.2.6?

Not that I'm aware of. There are a couple of PR's marked for 4.2.6, tough some of them have been pushed along for a couple of releases.

I have saw your PR, really appreciate for that.

Well, that's not a good news for me. I may have to compile myself and subscribe releases.

All in all, thanks for wasting your time to answer my questions.

I have already compiled and tested it for a while, and everything works well. It’s just many other users I know are eagerly waiting for this. It seems that @sledgehammer999 is the only maintainer in charge of the release work.

@seprode Quick question for you - attempted to use the currrent master WebUI as an alternative webUI to get the RSS functionality in q-nox 4.2.5, but icons aren't appearing. The fixes you highlighted in another issue (copy from /src/icons) don't address it either (copying the images from either the current master or web-rss branch to /public/images).

Something else to do for this stop gap to work (with icons?)

@thalieht @FranciscoPombal @Chocobo1 @glassez (off-topic) has anyone been in recent contact with @sledgehammer999 ?

With covid-19 etc hope he & his relations are ok?!

Images are now located in icons. So this should currently work:

Create a altWebUI folder.
From master copy /src/webui/www/* to altWebUI.
From master copy /src/icons/* to altWebUI/public/icons.
Point qBittorrents alternative Web UI setting to the altWebUI folder.

@seprode Thanks, that did it. For the idiots like me - the key thing in the above is change images to icons. (I looked at your message for too long going "Ok...I did that....what am I missing" before realizing the director in the altwebui public should be icons. :)

Thanks! Glad to have this working until 4.2.6 or 4.3 gets released. Very nice work on it!

No idea, I hope all is well. I sent them an email, let's hope they respond.

Update 2020-09-05: still no response.
