transaction.watch() doesn't work?

I am using JedisPooled and want to watch key1 before doing a transaction.
How can I do this? There is no watch method in JedisPooled, but the Transaction I get from calling multi does have such a method.

However, it does not seem to work, as this executes successfully:

Transaction transaction = pooled.multi();
transaction.watch("key1");
transaction.set("key1", "value1");
List<Object> exec = transaction.exec();

Even though I set the value of "key1" on another client after calling watch but before calling exec
If I use a regular Jedis from a JedisPool

Then doing the same scenario as above, the exec fails as expected.

jedis.watch("key1");
Transaction transaction = jedis.multi();
transaction.set("key1", "value1");
List<Object> exec = transaction.exec();

I even tried this:

Connection conn = pooled.getPool().getResource();
Transaction transaction = new Transaction(conn, false); // doMulti = false
transaction.watch("key1");
transaction.multi();
transaction.set("key1", "value1");
List<Object> exec = transaction.exec();

What am I doing wrong? How can I use JedisPooled and still use watch and transactions properly?

I made a mistake when testing the last method in my question. After fixing this, this method actually worked.
