The wifi networks being used are protected by their respective passwords.

However, when resetting the iotinator master module, it exposes for 30 seconds the default ssid iotinator, with the default password, so any module near enough to be able to connect to this ssid will request and receive both the new ssid and password.

However, agent modules do not have access to your home wifi ssid and password, only the master know these.

When GSM support is added, it could be used to confirm ownership by receiving a random four digit number that should then be input to get a session token for the webApp.

But as long as GSM powering issues are not solved, the app is available as soon as you are connected to the right Wifi network.
