Fix _get_topic_type so that it can get the type of a topic that is subscribed to, even if it isn't published yet.

To get an idea behind this change. This is designed to allow plot to start plotting topics before they are published correct? |

rqt_plot does not wait for topics to be available before it starts; if given any topics that don't exist, it simply discards them. See #229 This change allows rqt_plot to plot some topics before they're published, which helps mitigate #229 A common example where this would be useful would be plotting /cmd_vel , where the subscriber is always running and the topic type is known, but the publisher(s) may come and go. |

Ok something seems strange here. If it is actually returning a tuple with 3 values as the code seems to indicate then https://github.com/trainman419/rqt_common_plugins/blob/9ffbf817097084a4ad2dc0a4fd0f062e874ccc70/rqt_plot/src/rqt_plot/rosplot.py#L64 shouldn't work at all. I will try to get more time later today and test this out properly. |

Not sure how I missed the "stripped out" part of your comment. You are, of course, correct the extra tuple entries are being stripped and the return type of both of these functions are lists of pairs of strings. I have even tested this and it even seems to function in the case where a topic once existed and starts up while you are running rqt_plot (data begins populating again) +1 this change seems like a good addition @DorianScholz @dirk-thomas Do you think this should be folded into the re-factor or just merged as is? |
