Does this setting, also get used for future container pulls from kubernetes?
and can it also be used to setup DockerHub login for container pulls?

yes, but please keep in mind that harbor in your example is an endpoint (hostname and port) of the registry.

For Docker Hub, it should be registry-1.docker.io if I remember correctly.
