A suggestion of how to include https://github.com/solid/solid-spec/issues/160 into the Solid spec.

Also included in the test suite criteria suggestions https://github.com/solid/test-suite/blob/master/README.md

The WebID needs to be independent from the data storage i.e. Pod in such a way that it is possible to change Pod provider without needing to change WebID

Any suggestion on how server implementations would implement this in practice? I absolutely agree with the sentiment, but am unsure about the pragmatics of this 🙁

It always comes down to an own domain name, IMHO.

Today. Soon (relatively, hopefully), some DID system(s) that do not rely on the DNS system will be viable alternative(s). Of course, this will require some expansion of WebID to permit non-HTTP/S URIs (an expansion which we at OpenLink currently talk about as "NetID").

Good point. DIDs are great there indeed; but then it is a (major) question of what resolvers we want to support.
