06 Biological Models
So far the only biological model defined in PooPyLab is the Activated Sludge Model 1. The "ASM_1" class defines the kinetics and stoichiometrics of the Activated Sludge Model 1 developed by the IWA based on many experts' work.
Default wastewater temperature is 20C, which is used for all baseline kinetic constants. The user will set his/her project kinetics by changing the wastewater temperature and mixed liquor's bulk dissolved oxygen concentration via the "asm_reactor" interface.
All the assumptions and limitations listed in the IWA's Activated Sludge Model 1 Report apply.
The definitions of the kinetic constants, stoichiometrics, and normalized reaction rates follows the Peterson matrix format. All the soluble components are placed at the first half of the component columns, followed by the particulate ones. Please refer to the model_builder/template_asm1.csv for the arrangement (MS Excel creates troubles for me. Please try Libre Office Calc if Excel doesn't work for you either.).
Down the road, there will be additional ASM models available. A "model builder" is being developed for user defined models.
