NameSayer User Guide

  • SETUP ~ IMPORTANT

1. Make sure the folder/directory (database) containing the names is called 'names' ~ EXACTLY AS SPECIFIED.	

2. Make sure the names database is located in the same folder/directory as NameSayer.jar.

		--> OTHERWISE YOU WILL GET ERRORS
  • To launch the program

1. In the terminal, change directory to where the namesayer.jar is located

2. Run the namesayer.jar file 		>> java -jar NameSayer.jar
  • Name Selection Menu

1. Choose either to import from an existing .txt file or manually input the names.

.txt File: 
    	1.Browse to the .txt file and open using the button
Manual Input:
    	1.Enter the names you want to practice
    	2.You may wish to export the manual list as a .txt. This will be saved in the Saved List folder

2. Remove names from the selection using the delete buttons

3. You can randomise the names by selecting Shuffle at the bottom of the screen.

4. Once names are selected for practice, press the practice button to go into the practice menu.
  • Practice Menu

1. The names selected on the previous menu are shown on the list on the left of the screen.

2. Press the previous, play and next buttons below the list to select the name you wish to play.

3. Press RECORD to start recording, press stop to stop recording.

4. Play your recordings by selecting them in the list on the right, and pressing play.

		--> NOTE - buttons are disabled while a recording is playing.

5. Delete your own recording by selecting it and pressing the delete button.
  • Names Menu

1. Here you can play the different names in the database

2. Press the RATE button to change the rating between good and bad.
  * Bad ratings are stored in a file called Bad_ratings.txt, located in the same directory as NameSayer.jar.
  • Special Features

1. Suggestions as you manually input a name (Auto-Fill)

2. Names are coloured in accordance to their frequency in the database

3. Users can export the names they manually typed in as a .txt file
