Hi Natasha,
I work for the CDDO and we are reviewing your api's api.gov.uk. I just
wondered if you might be able to answer these questions below:
Department for International TradeThe API catalogue contains the following
5 Department for International Trade (DIT) APIs:
- Check barriers to trading and investing abroad
<https://www.api.gov.uk/dit/check-barriers-to-trading-and-investing-abroad/>
- UK Global Tariff (commodities)
<https://www.api.gov.uk/dit/uk-global-tariff-commodities/>
- UK Global Tariff (measures as defined)
<https://www.api.gov.uk/dit/uk-global-tariff-measures-as-defined/>
- UK Global Tariff (measures on declarable commodities)
<https://www.api.gov.uk/dit/uk-global-tariff-measures-on-declarable-commodities/>
- UK Trade Quotas <https://www.api.gov.uk/dit/uk-trade-quotas/>
1) whether the api's are up to date?
2) Is the documentation ok and regularly updated as required?
3) Who is the owner?
4) Who maintains it?
5) Are there any plans to publish any more/or new API's
Many thanks in anticipation

Hi James, As Natasha mentioned - we can help with more specifics if you can send an email through. Feel free to mention our names in the email so it gets to the right place. I can give a few answers though: 1) whether the api's are up to date? The APIs themselves sit on the DBT Public Data Gateway (https://data.api.trade.gov.uk) and are all still maintained and being updated regularly. The Public Data Gateway also includes technical guidance on how to use the APIs. Some of the datasets are also published openly on data.gov.uk, where there is some more information about the specific datasets. 2) Is the documentation ok and regularly updated as required? As above - the documentation on DBT's Public Data Gateway and data.gov.uk are up-to-date. The documentation on api.gov.uk hasn't been updated for some time, but looks to be broadly up to date. We will take a look and see if there are any significant changes to flag, so thanks for the prompt. Grateful if you could send through some instructions (via the email route mentioned above) on how we go about doing this. 3) Who is the owner? + 4) Who maintains it? We don't have individual named owners for each API, they are maintained by relevant teams in the DBT Digital, Data and Technology team. 5) Are there any plans to publish any more/or new API's Yes, we have a number of different datasets that we're hoping to publish soon. We're working through the technical and other controls to get there. |
