Ploting 3D Vector field in Visit #20102
-
Hi all, I'm trying to plot a 3D vector field in Visit 3.3.3. My data is stored in an HDF5 file, with each vector component Yx, Yy and Yz stored as separate scalar fields. After loading the file, I attempted to use the Vector plot from the Add menu. However, when I select it, the window remains empty, and I'm not sure how to properly plot the vector field. I found relative topic #5779, but the ref link is dead and I tried to build a vector expression, still cannot find it in vector plot. Could anyone offer some guidance on how to visualize this data correctly? |

Hmmm...maybe a silly question but did you hit the Draw button? I don't think it will draw the plot for you by default. You have to tell VisIt to draw it...unless you have Auto apply checked in the main GUI panel which your screen shot shows is NOT checked. |

Create your vector expression by opening Controls->Expressions, click Don't forget to click You can give it any name you want, you don't have to use |

Create your vector expression by opening Controls->Expressions, click
New
then fill it in like so:Don't forget to click
Apply
when you are done. Themyvector
expression should then show up in the Vector plot's list of variables. You can give it any name you want, you don't have to use
