Generally speaking, does the component perform its core functions reasonably quickly?

Google's RAIL guidelines may provide some concrete metrics.

We may need to distinguish between heavyweight components that may only appear once, or a handful of times, on a page (a carousel, menu bar, dialog, etc.) and lightweight components that may appear hundreds of times (a slider, star rating, etc., that might be used in a grid or list).
