Installation

  • Install the .ipk
  • Start RetroArch from home screen
  • Online Updater → Update Core Info Files, Online Updater → Update Assets

  • ROMs can be loaded off USB drives if rooted (/tmp/usb/...) or uploading via sftp to your device
  • You can use a USB or Bluetooth controller by pairing with webOS - I have used a Xbox Series X controller via bluetooth
  • You need to remap a controller button to close the emulator in settings

Changes

Known issues

  • some cores are untested (e.g. dosbox)
  • muopen64 (N64) requires OpenGLESv3 (v2 is broken, known bug) - might require WebOS v4 and higher

Installation

  • Install an .ipk
  • Start RetroArch from home screen
  • Online Updater → Update Core Info Files, Online Updater → Core Downloader, Online Updater → Update Assets
  • Content can be loaded off USB drives (/tmp/usb/...)

Changes

  • Fixed support for libstdc++.so-requiring cores on webOS 3.8
  • Rebound Exit key (Back button long-press on Magic Remote) to in-game menu toggle
  • Incidentally, after last update, image viewer no longer crashes the compositor ( ´ ▽ ` )ノ

Known issues

  • Joypad hotplug doesn't seem to work well. Only tested with PS3 controller over USB - new joypads are detected, disconnects show a RetroArch notification, but reconnection in the same RetroArch session are not detected - RetroArch needs to be closed completely and restarted manually from webOS home screen.
  • Cores are not paused when minimizing the application/opening the homescreen
  • Only a bunch of test cores are prebuilt so far (NES, SNES, Quake, 2048, DosBox...)

This is an initial demo of RetroArch build for webOS.

Installation

  • Install an .ipk
  • Start RetroArch from home screen
  • Online Updater → Update Core Info Files, Online Updater → Core Downloader, Online Updater → Update Assets
  • Content can be loaded off USB drives (/tmp/usb/...)

Known issues

  • Only dpad, "center" button and number keys work on a remote. Scrollwheel and magic remote pointer work as well. Any other keys are unbindable as of now. In order to go back in the menu system press upper left corner icon / box using magic remote pointer, or rebind some number keys to A/B/X/Y keys on a remote and set "Unified Menu Controls"
  • Joypad hotplug doesn't seem to work well.
