I understand that you leaned more towards readability, but it seems unnecessarily expensive to do a method call to convert a bool to a byte.
Could we get away with putting [MethodImpl (MethodImplOptions.AggressiveInlining)]
on the AsByte
extension as a hint to the compiler?
The JIT/AOT compiler should be able to inline it without us telling it to do so. It's a really simple method: xamarin-macios/src/ObjCRuntime/Extensions.cs Lines 3 to 6 in c343732
