Zed binary has inconsistent naming on Linux #12306
Comments
Maybe because of #12290 we should do Option 2? |
Capitalized program names are – in my opinion – a bad idea, especially on Linux, where there's an actual difference between |
Renaming to |

Describe the bug / provide steps to reproduce it
There have at least been two seperate PRs #12218 and #12301 which have resulted from the documentation not saying that zed binaries on Linux are named
zed
rather thanZed
.Either make all binaries be
zed
, make the bundle-linux script and .desktop file refer toZed
, or document this difference between Linux and MacOS/Windows.I prefer the first option the most because most programs have a lowercased binary name. Option two at least gets rid of the inconsistency and it is still preferable to option three which only acknowledges it is there.
Environment
Linux
