Sorry, I use Ubuntu Gnome 17.04. I really like ES (I don't mind using ES instead Retroarch) but it seems very abandoned. There are 335 open issues and 38 pull requests waiting to be merged and the last modification I've seen is 3 years old. It's written in C++ (excellent language, but not everybody can help), I would help but I only know HTML/CSS/JavaScript/other toys, and I haven't tried Emscripten.
@lennygundam14 @Aloshi
I have a 50" LG Plasma TV and it works fine through HDMI. Check for resolution configurations or drivers issues, I think.

The project is abandoned

It's a good project. Maybe it doesn't have its own "cores" like Retroarch, but it's a very good Frontend for any already installed emulator. I love and prefer its scraping method over Retroarch's. I'd fork it and port it to Javascript, Frontend and Backend (JS is getting more popular every second and more people can contribute faster).
I hope @Aloshi is O.K. or maybe he has a busy job.
Anyway, is an OpenSource project, so anybody with Software Design / UX / C++ / XML knowledge can contribute.
For example, Open Issue #666 is waiting to be closed since 2 days from now and it has no conflicts with base branch. I don't think it's abandoned @hex007 (although that's the first impression), but (honestly) its development is way too slow.....

@Aloshi Himself has stated that this repo is abandoned. The last commit was more than 2 years ago.

You should see the fork of retropie which is active. Last commits 2 days ago.

Wow! Thanks:
@Aloshi for ES.
@hex007 for confirming my doubts.
@zyguy for link to ES fork. I'll try to build it in Ubunu Gnome 17.04 x86_64.

More sane defaults for several components
