Is there a work around?

We decided to not take actions and play cat and mouse game

You can rename the linkedin class to something else and use the alias, or report this issue to the list of your adblocker of choice

edit: in any case, I think that if the user explicitly enabled, or has been opted-in to block social media, you should respect user's will and do not trick their adblocker. You can discuss the default opt-in option, but that is not related to Font Awesome

Is there a work around?

Don't use block-lists that block harmless icons.

@gquinsey
Honestly. What do you expect?

  • FA not the cause of the problem
  • there are tons of block-list providers who avoid false positives, either switch providers or report it to the block-list bug tracker
  • some block-lists will refuse to take it off for various reasons and will block it again if you try to avoid it
  • I personally use ad-blockers, use common block-lists and I do not have this issue
