"When you create a new post, there is a drop down box to select the community you want it posted in. The problem is, this drop down box does not include all the local communities you are subscriber to, or indeed all the linked communities you are subscribed to either.
I first noticed this as the number of local communities I was linked to increased, but it became very noticeable as I started subscribing to communities from other instances. Now sometimes the drop down box only displays 3 or 4 communities.
While on the subject of communities, I would really just like an option to be able to just see the local communities I am subscribed to in that drop down box"
to which the reply was:
"There are potentially thousands of communities, which is why that drop down uses a search box."
My fault for not being clear, it is just not the drop down box, but also the associated search function that does not work. I have been running the webapp on a degoogled phone running grapheneos (not sure if that would make a difference)
I have played with it over the past week and it is a real pain:
sometimes the community appears
sometimes it will appear if I refresh, sometimes not
sometimes it will appear if I close the web app and reopen it, sometimes not
sometimes if I simply leave the "Create Post" page as it is (post in progress) and come back to it in 5 minutes - then it finds the community.
There is something funky going on with that search algorithm. Maybe it is not refreshing the results when it needs to - I am not sure.
Hope this helps make Lemmy even better.

16.4 has made this problem better. At first I thought it had fixed it, but after a while of using Lemmy it came back again.
Later I noticed it may just be a timing delay, if I wait a little, back space and retype a few times, then the community will appear. Sometimes if I just wait a little, it will appear.
So it seems to be better then what it was, but still not working as it should.
I will keep playing with it and see if I can nail down any specifics for you - but at the moment it seems random.
This is an issue I originally posted in the Lemmy section and it should have been posted here in Lemmy-UI
