This results in matched functionality of the rewrite-gradle-plugin.
rewrite:diffwould generates a dedicatedgit patchfile, and keep in mind thatrewrite:dryRundoes not generate thispatcheither (in the rewrite-maven-plugin or rewrite-gradle-plugin). I'd suggest that if we're going to change/add that as features todryRun, we do it in a separate PR for both the rewrite-maven-plugin and rewrite-gradle-plugin.
