10th October 2019 @ UG4 and Science Building

  • Meet with Henry to discuss the decisions that went into our final prototype.

  • Afterwards, discussed the next steps for the game. These included sharing the results from our playtesting, as well as talking about previous ideas we had and any new ideas.From this discussion, we came up with a list of requirements. These are logged as issues, found on the issue log here. We assigned these issues so people start working independently on them before our next meeting.

  • Need to discuss with Rashina:

    • Climate change deep mapping
    • RNG needed? - could swap for feature such as web deployment, online leaderboards
    • Fixed level design being worth the full 5%
    • How much testing required (unit testing in particular).
  • Rashina is potentially available for a chat on Tuesday (to be arranged).


15th October 2019 @ Engineering Building

  • Meeting with Rashina to discuss prototype 1 feedback, and getting clarification on what is needed for the final project build. Specifically, an RNG feature will be replaced with the use of Web Deployment, Scoring system, and monetization discussion.
  • Standup for final project submission. The team went over the set features and additional features that are required for the final submission. The features are added onto issues and team members have assigned/chosen such issues. Features include: reworking dialogue, proper level design, level backgrounds and aesthetic, UI rework for start and end, leaderboards, music and SFX, tutorial for new users, level selection screen etc.

18th October 2019 @ 55 Symmonds

  • Starting final project, where team members are already assigned issues/features to work on.
  • Daily standup to make sure that everyone has something (within the requirements) to do. This includes each member sharing their progress and on-going tasks that they have to do for the day.
  • Today includes :
    • Creating and designing additional rooms for both level 2 and 3.
    • Refactoring future and past transition
    • UI updates for menu and exit
    • Sprite and animation updates
    • Leaderboard prototype

19th October 2019 @ 55 Symmonds

  • Daily standup for updating progress from yesterday.
  • Today includes:
    • Creating and designing additional rooms for both level 2 and 3.
    • Reupdating dialogue for NPCs
    • Creating new NPCs for the two new levels
    • Support leaderboard for online capacity
    • Creating tutorial sprites

20th October 2019 @ 55 Symmonds

  • Daily standup for updating progress from yesterday.
  • Today includes:
    • Adding functionality to level selection screen
    • Creating scene controller to join levels
    • Creating music controller to manage SFX and music
    • Testing for issues in scene controller integration
    • Testing issues for movement vs world interaction and past/future interaction

21th October 2019 @ 55 Symmonds

  • Create working build for submission: This includes everything from play testing the game, integrating final features (leaderboard screen, dialogue, unlocking levels and game modes), integrating building onto hosting website via https://timo.nz/lifeofwilbur/.
  • Documentation has been captured via commenting standards for all new scripts used in the final build, and having to update the Wiki via creating a RUP reflection and game walkthrough.
