Minimyth2 offers following functional enhancements over vanilla MythTV frontend running on general use Linux OS:
- Zero-effort provisioning of new MythTV frontend. Only enabling PXE boot is required to get a fully functional frontend.
- Disk-less operation via PXE boot with EFI/CSM support and auto-detection.
- Extended auto-detection and auto-configuration of 1500+ graphics cards for Nvidia/AMD-ATI VDPAU and Intel VAAPI equipped platforms.
- Extended support for external user equipment control with help of LIRC irblaster.
- Build-in OSD notifications for new E-Mails on multiple E-Mail accounts.
- Build-in OSD status reporting for: tuner usage, frontend, & backend hardware status and upcoming recordings.
- Configuration-less mode where system is able to boot without any configuration files while still offering majority of its functions. (tested on various Gigabyte/Intel/AsRock platforms with Microsoft MCE USB remote).
- Extended sleep/resume support for fast & reliable appliance like experience.
- Enhanced selected remote buttons to offer multi-function (multiple key-press) supporting user with basic system maintenance actions.
- Simple VoIP SIP client allowing to make VoIP calls from appliance and receiving incoming calls with talk/listen + voice mail/voice mail/reject modes.
- Playback, rip and copy of encrypted BluRay with help of MakeMKV as decryption backend.
- When inserted, auto-play AudioCD and CDimage discs in MythTV mythmusic/mythphoto.
- Build-in MythTV frontend process watchdog.
- Enhanced networking functions allowing user to have single NFS share per frontend, mounting MythTV / home directory as NFS share on server with auto-initialization.
- Minimyth2 network services auto-discovery with help of AVAHI.
- Time zone auto-detection (via Geo-IP services) for systems where DHCP server can’t reliably provide TCODE option.
- Added UDISKS infrastructure for better MythTV media auto-detection support.
