The type bounds logic has not yet been updated to deal with extended permissions (xperms) aka ioctl whitelisting. Consequently, a bounded type may be allowed more extended permissions / ioctls than its bounding type. Need to update the security server logic to do this to preserve the bounding relationship.

After commit 1cf6e8f ("tty/serial: at91: fix RTS line management
when hardware handshake is enabled"), the hardware handshake wasn't
functional anymore on Atmel platforms (beside SAMA5D2).

To understand why, one has to understand the flag ATMEL_US_USMODE_HWHS
first:
Before commit 1cf6e8f ("tty/serial: at91: fix RTS line management
when hardware handshake is enabled"), this flag was never set.
Thus, the CTS/RTS where only handled by serial_core (and everything
worked just fine).

This commit introduced the use of the ATMEL_US_USMODE_HWHS flag,
enabling it for all boards when the user space enables flow control.

When the ATMEL_US_USMODE_HWHS is set, the Atmel USART controller
handles a part of the flow control job:
- disable the transmitter when the CTS pin gets high.
- drive the RTS pin high when the DMA buffer transfer is completed or
  PDC RX buffer full or RX FIFO is beyond threshold. (depending on the
  controller version).

NB: This feature is *not* mandatory for the flow control to work.
(Nevertheless, it's very useful if low latencies are needed.)

Now, the specifics of the ATMEL_US_USMODE_HWHS flag:

- For platforms with DMAC and no FIFOs (sam9x25, sam9x35, sama5D3,
sama5D4, sam9g15, sam9g25, sam9g35)* this feature simply doesn't work.
( source: https://lkml.org/lkml/2016/9/7/598 )
Tested it on sam9g35, the RTS pins always stays up, even when RXEN=1
or a new DMA transfer descriptor is set.
=> ATMEL_US_USMODE_HWHS must not be used for those platforms

- For platforms with a PDC (sam926{0,1,3}, sam9g10, sam9g20, sam9g45,
sam9g46)*, there's another kind of problem. Once the flag
ATMEL_US_USMODE_HWHS is set, the RTS pin can't be driven anymore via
RTSEN/RTSDIS in USART Control Register. The RTS pin can only be driven
by enabling/disabling the receiver or setting RCR=RNCR=0 in the PDC
(Receive (Next) Counter Register).
=> Doing this is beyond the scope of this patch and could add other
bugs, so the original (and working) behaviour should be set for those
platforms (meaning ATMEL_US_USMODE_HWHS flag should be unset).

- For platforms with a FIFO (sama5d2)*, the RTS pin is driven according
to the RX FIFO thresholds, and can be also driven by RTSEN/RTSDIS in
USART Control Register. No problem here.
(This was the use case of commit 1cf6e8f ("tty/serial: at91: fix
RTS line management when hardware handshake is enabled"))
NB: If the CTS pin declared as a GPIO in the DTS, (for instance
cts-gpios = <&pioA PIN_PB31 GPIO_ACTIVE_LOW>), the transmitter will be
disabled.
=> ATMEL_US_USMODE_HWHS flag can be set for this platform ONLY IF the
CTS pin is not a GPIO.

So, the only case when ATMEL_US_USMODE_HWHS can be enabled is when
(atmel_use_fifo(port) &&
 !mctrl_gpio_to_gpiod(atmel_port->gpios, UART_GPIO_CTS))

Tested on all Atmel USART controller flavours:
AT91SAM9G35-CM (DMAC flavour), AT91SAM9G20-EK (PDC flavour),
SAMA5D2xplained (FIFO flavour).

* the list may not be exhaustive

We used to use generic implementation of dma_map_ops.mmap which is
dma_common_mmap() but that only worked for simpler cached mappings when
vaddr = paddr.

If a driver requests uncached DMA buffer kernel maps it to virtual
address so that MMU gets involved and page uncached status takes into
account. In that case usage of dma_common_mmap() lead to mapping of
vaddr to vaddr for user-space which is obviously wrong. For more detals
please refer to verbose explanation here [1].

So here we implement our own version of mmap() which always deals
with dma_addr and maps underlying memory to user-space properly
(note that DMA buffer mapped to user-space is always uncached
because there's no way to properly manage cache from user-space).

The current code doesn't even compile as somehow the inline assembly
can't see the register names defined as ARC_RTC_*
I'm pretty sure It worked when I first got it merged, but the tools were
definitely different then.

So better to write this in "C" anyways.

Both ACPI and MP specifications require that the APIC id in the respective
tables must be the same as the APIC id in CPUID.

The kernel retrieves the physical package id from the APIC id during the
ACPI/MP table scan and builds the physical to logical package map. The
physical package id which is used after a CPU comes up is retrieved from
CPUID. So we rely on ACPI/MP tables and CPUID agreeing in that respect.

There exist VMware and XEN implementations which violate the spec. As a
result the physical to logical package map, which relies on the ACPI/MP
tables does not work on those systems, because the CPUID initialized
physical package id does not match the firmware id. This causes system
crashes and malfunction due to invalid package mappings.

The only way to cure this is to sanitize the physical package id after the
CPUID enumeration and yell when the APIC ids are different. Fix up the
initial APIC id, which is fine as it is only used printout purposes.

If the physical package IDs differ yell and use the package information
from the ACPI/MP tables so the existing logical package map just works.

Chas provided the resulting dmesg output for his affected 4 virtual
sockets, 1 core per socket VM:

[Firmware Bug]: CPU1: APIC id mismatch. Firmware: 1 CPUID: 2
[Firmware Bug]: CPU1: Using firmware package id 1 instead of 2

It is because linux use an internal structure node_masks[] to
keep the best memory latency node only. However, LDOM mdesc can
contain single latency-group with multiple memory latency nodes.

If the address doesn't match the best latency node within
node_masks[], it should check for an alternative via mdesc.
The warning message should only be printed if the address
doesn't match any node_masks[] nor within mdesc. To minimize
the impact of searching mdesc every time, the last matched
mask and index is stored in a variable.

commit 1c3c909 broke PAE40. Macro pfn_pte(pfn, prot) creates paddr
from pfn, but the page shift was getting truncated to 32 bits since we lost
the proper cast to 64 bits (for PAE400

Instead of reverting that commit, use a better helper which is 32/64 bits

We cannot do printk() from tk_debug_account_sleep_time(), because
tk_debug_account_sleep_time() is called under tk_core seq lock.
The reason why printk() is unsafe there is that console_sem may
invoke scheduler (up()->wake_up_process()->activate_task()), which,
in turn, can return back to timekeeping code, for instance, via
get_time()->ktime_get(), deadlocking the system on tk_core seq lock.

The CPPI 4.1 driver polls register to workaround the premature TX
interrupt issue, but it causes audio playback underrun when triggered in
Isoch transfers.

Isoch doesn't do back-to-back transfers, the TX should be done by the
time the next transfer is scheduled. So skip this polling workaround for
Isoch transfer.

The DSPS glue calls del_timer_sync() in its musb_platform_disable()
implementation, which requires the caller to not hold a lock. But
musb_remove() calls musb_platform_disable() will musb->lock held. This
could causes spinlock deadlock.

So change musb_remove() to call musb_platform_disable() without holds
musb->lock. This doesn't impact the musb_platform_disable implementation
in other glue drivers.

qed: Fixes series

This address several different issues in qed.
The more significant portions:

Patch #1 would cause timeout when qedr utilizes the highest
CIDs availble for it [or when future qede adapters would utilize
queues in some constellations].

Patch #4 fixes a leak of mapped addresses; When iommu is enabled,
offloaded storage protocols might eventually run out of resources
and fail to map additional buffers.

Patches #6,#7 were missing in the initial iSCSI infrastructure
submissions, and would hamper qedi's stability when it reaches
out-of-order scenarios.

This patch fixes 'mei: synchronize irq before initiating a reset'
The patch had introduced a deadlock between irq thread and mei_reset()
as they are both holding the same device lock.

---> device_lock:
	mei_reset()
                        <---- interrupt thread
	                        device_lock
---> synchornize_irq()
       wait on interrupt thread == (dead lock)

The fix is to call synchronize_irq
prior to call locked mei_reset function.

The driver still struggles with firmwares that do not replay to the OS
version request. It is safe not waiting for the replay. First, the driver
doesn't do anything with the replay second the connection is closed
immediately, hence the packet will be just safely discarded in case it
is received and last the driver won't get stuck if the firmware won't
reply.

The SDHCI controller in the SAMA5D2 chip requires a valid voltage set
in the power control register, otherwise commands will fail with a
timeout error.

When using the regulator framework to specify the regulator used by the
mmc device, the voltage is not configured, and it is not possible to use
the connected device.

Implement a custom 'set_power' function for this specific hardware, that
configures the voltage in the register in all cases.

When iterating busy requests in timeout handler,
if the STARTED flag of one request isn't set, that means
the request is being processed in block layer or driver, and
isn't submitted to hardware yet.

In current implementation of blk_mq_check_expired(),
if the request queue becomes dying, un-started requests are
handled as being completed/freed immediately. This way is
wrong, and can cause rq corruption or double allocation[1][2],
when doing I/O and removing&resetting NVMe device at the sametime.

This patch fixes several issues reported by Yi Zhang.

Dmitry reported a lockdep splat [1] (false positive) that we can fix
by releasing the spinlock before calling icmp_send() from ip_expire()

This is a false positive because sending an ICMP message can not
possibly re-enter the IP frag engine.

If queue is stopped, we shouldn't dispatch request into driver and
hardware, unfortunately the check is removed in bd166ef(blk-mq-sched:
add framework for MQ capable IO schedulers).

This patch fixes the issue by moving the check back into
__blk_mq_try_issue_directly().

This patch fixes request use-after-free[1][2] during canceling requets
of NVMe in nvme_dev_disable(), which can be triggered easily during
NVMe reset & remove test.

Due to how the MONOTONIC_RAW accumulation logic was handled,
there is the potential for a 1ns discontinuity when we do
accumulations. This small discontinuity has for the most part
gone un-noticed, but since ARM64 enabled CLOCK_MONOTONIC_RAW
in their vDSO clock_gettime implementation, we've seen failures
with the inconsistency-check test in kselftest.

This patch addresses the issue by using the same sub-ns
accumulation handling that CLOCK_MONOTONIC uses, which avoids
the issue for in-kernel users.

Since the ARM64 vDSO implementation has its own clock_gettime
calculation logic, this patch reduces the frequency of errors,
but failures are still seen. The ARM64 vDSO will need to be
updated to include the sub-nanosecond xtime_nsec values in its
calculation for this issue to be completely fixed.

Recently vDSO support for CLOCK_MONOTONIC_RAW was added in
49eea43 ("arm64: Add support for CLOCK_MONOTONIC_RAW in
clock_gettime() vDSO"). Noticing that the core timekeeping code
never set tkr_raw.xtime_nsec, the vDSO implementation didn't
bother exposing it via the data page and instead took the
unshifted tk->raw_time.tv_nsec value which was then immediately
shifted left in the vDSO code.

Unfortunately, by accellerating the MONOTONIC_RAW clockid, it
uncovered potential 1ns time inconsistencies caused by the
timekeeping core not handing sub-ns resolution.

Now that the core code has been fixed and is actually setting
tkr_raw.xtime_nsec, we need to take that into account in the
vDSO by adding it to the shifted raw_time value, in order to
fix the user-visible inconsistency. Rather than do that at each
use (and expand the data page in the process), instead perform
the shift/addition operation when populating the data page and
remove the shift from the vDSO code entirely.

In codepaths that use the begin/retry interface for reading
mems_allowed_seq with irqs disabled, there exists a race condition that
stalls the patch process after only modifying a subset of the
static_branch call sites.

This problem manifested itself as a deadlock in the slub allocator,
inside get_any_partial. The loop reads mems_allowed_seq value (via
read_mems_allowed_begin), performs the defrag operation, and then
verifies the consistency of mem_allowed via the read_mems_allowed_retry
and the cookie returned by xxx_begin.

The issue here is that both begin and retry first check if cpusets are
enabled via cpusets_enabled() static branch. This branch can be
rewritted dynamically (via cpuset_inc) if a new cpuset is created. The
x86 jump label code fully synchronizes across all CPUs for every entry
it rewrites. If it rewrites only one of the callsites (specifically the
one in read_mems_allowed_retry) and then waits for the
smp_call_function(do_sync_core) to complete while a CPU is inside the
begin/retry section with IRQs off and the mems_allowed value is changed,
we can hang.

This is because begin() will always return 0 (since it wasn't patched
yet) while retry() will test the 0 against the actual value of the seq
counter.

The fix is to use two different static keys: one for begin
(pre_enable_key) and one for retry (enable_key). In cpuset_inc(), we
first bump the pre_enable key to ensure that cpuset_mems_allowed_begin()
always return a valid seqcount if are enabling cpusets. Similarly, when
disabling cpusets via cpuset_dec(), we first ensure that callers of
cpuset_mems_allowed_retry() will start ignoring the seqcount value
before we let cpuset_mems_allowed_begin() return 0.

… SoC

PAE40 confiuration in hardware extends some of the address registers
for TLB/cache ops to 2 words.

So far kernel was NOT setting the higher word if feature was not enabled
in software which is wrong. Those need to be set to 0 in such case.

Normally this would be done in the cache flush / tlb ops, however since
these registers only exist conditionally, this would have to be
conditional to a flag being set on boot which is expensive/ugly -
specially for the more common case of PAE exists but not in use.
Optimize that by zero'ing them once at boot - nobody will write to
them afterwards

We really must check with #if __BYTE_ORDER == XYZ instead of
just presence of #ifdef __LITTLE_ENDIAN. I noticed that when
actually running this on big endian machine, the latter test
resolves to true for user space, same for #ifdef __BIG_ENDIAN.

E.g., looking at endian.h from libc, both are also defined
there, so we really must test this against __BYTE_ORDER instead
for proper insns selection. For the kernel, such checks are
fine though e.g. see 13da9e2 ("Revert "endian: #define
__BYTE_ORDER"") and 415586c ("UAPI: fix endianness conditionals
in M32R's asm/stat.h") for some more context, but not for
user space. Lets also make sure to properly include endian.h.
After that, suite passes for me:

Failing to allocate/assign it results in illegal dereferences because
LLDs use this pointer unquestioned.

An example panic on s390x, using the zFCP driver, looks like this (I had
debugging on, otherwise NULL-pointer dereferences wouldn't even panic on
s390x):

Unable to handle kernel pointer dereference in virtual kernel address space
Failing address: 6b6b6b6b6b6b6000 TEID: 6b6b6b6b6b6b6403

Kernel panic - not syncing: Fatal exception in interrupt

This patch moves bsg-lib to allocate and setup struct bsg_job ahead of
time, including the allocation of a buffer for the reply-data.

This means, struct bsg_job is not allocated separately anymore, but as part
of struct request allocation - similar to struct scsi_cmd. Reflect this in
the function names that used to handle creation/destruction of struct
bsg_job.

I changed the way mac80211 updates the PM state of the peer.
I forgot that we could also have multicast frames from the
peer and that those frame should of course not change the
PM state of the peer: A peer goes to power save when it
needs to scan, but it won't send the broadcast Probe Request
with the PM bit set.

This made us mark the peer as awake when it wasn't and then
Intel's firmware would fail to transmit because the peer is
asleep according to its database. The driver warned about
this and it looked like this:

When use 'echo c > /proc/sysrq-trigger' to trigger kdump, riscv_crash_save_regs()
will be called to save regs for vmcore, we found "epc" value 00ffffffa5537400
is not a valid kernel virtual address, but is a user virtual address. Other
regs(eg, ra, sp, gp...) are correct kernel virtual address.
Actually 0x00ffffffb0dd9400 is the user mode PC of 'PID: 113 Comm: sh', which
is saved in the task's stack.

Conor Dooley <mail@conchuod.ie> says:

From: Conor Dooley <conor.dooley@microchip.com>

The device trees produced automatically for the virt and spike machines
fail dt-validate on several grounds. Some of these need to be fixed in
the linux kernel's dt-bindings, but others are caused by bugs in QEMU.

Patches been sent that fix the QEMU issues [0], but a couple of them
need to be fixed in the kernel's dt-bindings. The first patches add
compatibles for "riscv,{clint,plic}0" which are present in drivers and
the auto generated QEMU dtbs.

Thanks to Rob Herring for reporting these issues [1],
Conor.

To reproduce the errors:
./build/qemu-system-riscv64 -nographic -machine virt,dumpdtb=qemu.dtb
dt-validate -p /path/to/linux/kernel/Documentation/devicetree/bindings/processed-schema.json qemu.dtb
(The processed schema needs to be generated first)

When doing timestamping in lan966x and having PROVE_LOCKING
enabled the following warning is shown.

swapper/0/0 just changed the state of lock:
c2609f50 (_xmit_ETHER#2){+.-.}-{2:2}, at: sch_direct_xmit+0x16c/0x2e8
but this lock took another, SOFTIRQ-unsafe lock in the past:
 (&lan966x->ptp_ts_id_lock){+.+.}-{2:2}

and interrupts could create inverse lock ordering between them.

Analysis

This bug has the same root cause of 'commit 7f27ec9 ("ocfs2: call
ocfs2_journal_access_di() before ocfs2_journal_dirty() in
ocfs2_write_end_nolock()")'. For this bug, jbd2_journal_restart() is
called by ocfs2_split_extent() during defragmenting.

How to fix

For ocfs2_split_extent() can handle journal operations totally by itself.
Caller doesn't need to call journal access/dirty pair, and caller only
needs to call journal start/stop pair. The fix method is to remove
journal access/dirty from __ocfs2_move_extent().

Error handler of tcf_block_bind() frees the whole bo->cb_list on error.
However, by that time the flow_block_cb instances are already in the driver
list because driver ndo_setup_tc() callback is called before that up the
call chain in tcf_block_offload_cmd(). This leaves dangling pointers to
freed objects in the list and causes use-after-free[0]. Fix it by also
removing flow_block_cb instances from driver_list before deallocating them.

When booting with 'kasan.vmalloc=off', a kernel configured with support
for KASAN_HW_TAGS will explode at boot time due to bogus use of
virt_to_page() on a vmalloc adddress. With CONFIG_DEBUG_VIRTUAL selected
this will be reported explicitly, and with or without CONFIG_DEBUG_VIRTUAL
the kernel will dereference a bogus address:

| Kernel panic - not syncing: Attempted to kill the idle task!

This is because init_vmalloc_pages() erroneously calls virt_to_page() on
a vmalloc address, while virt_to_page() is only valid for addresses in
the linear/direct map. Since init_vmalloc_pages() expects virtual
addresses in the vmalloc range, it must use vmalloc_to_page() rather
than virt_to_page().

We call init_vmalloc_pages() from __kasan_unpoison_vmalloc(), where we
check !is_vmalloc_or_module_addr(), suggesting that we might encounter a
non-vmalloc address. Luckily, this never happens. By design, we only
call __kasan_unpoison_vmalloc() on pointers in the vmalloc area, and I
have verified that we don't violate that expectation. Given that,
is_vmalloc_or_module_addr() must always be true for any legitimate
argument to __kasan_unpoison_vmalloc().

Correct init_vmalloc_pages() to use vmalloc_to_page(), and remove the
redundant and misleading use of is_vmalloc_or_module_addr() in
__kasan_unpoison_vmalloc().

Pull SMP updates from Thomas Gleixner:
 "A large update for SMP management:

   - Parallel CPU bringup

     The reason why people are interested in parallel bringup is to
     shorten the (kexec) reboot time of cloud servers to reduce the
     downtime of the VM tenants.

     The current fully serialized bringup does the following per AP:

       1) Prepare callbacks (allocate, intialize, create threads)
       2) Kick the AP alive (e.g. INIT/SIPI on x86)
       3) Wait for the AP to report alive state
       4) Let the AP continue through the atomic bringup
       5) Let the AP run the threaded bringup to full online state

     There are two significant delays:

       #3 The time for an AP to report alive state in start_secondary()
          on x86 has been measured in the range between 350us and 3.5ms
          depending on vendor and CPU type, BIOS microcode size etc.

       #4 The atomic bringup does the microcode update. This has been
          measured to take up to ~8ms on the primary threads depending
          on the microcode patch size to apply.

     On a two socket SKL server with 56 cores (112 threads) the boot CPU
     spends on current mainline about 800ms busy waiting for the APs to
     come up and apply microcode. That's more than 80% of the actual
     onlining procedure.

     This can be reduced significantly by splitting the bringup
     mechanism into two parts:

       1) Run the prepare callbacks and kick the AP alive for each AP
          which needs to be brought up.

          The APs wake up, do their firmware initialization and run the
          low level kernel startup code including microcode loading in
          parallel up to the first synchronization point. (#1 and #2
          above)

       2) Run the rest of the bringup code strictly serialized per CPU
          (#3 - #5 above) as it's done today.

          Parallelizing that stage of the CPU bringup might be possible
          in theory, but it's questionable whether required surgery
          would be justified for a pretty small gain.

     If the system is large enough the first AP is already waiting at
     the first synchronization point when the boot CPU finished the
     wake-up of the last AP. That reduces the AP bringup time on that
     SKL from ~800ms to ~80ms, i.e. by a factor ~10x.

     The actual gain varies wildly depending on the system, CPU,
     microcode patch size and other factors. There are some
     opportunities to reduce the overhead further, but that needs some
     deep surgery in the x86 CPU bringup code.

     For now this is only enabled on x86, but the core functionality
     obviously works for all SMP capable architectures.

   - Enhancements for SMP function call tracing so it is possible to
     locate the scheduling and the actual execution points. That allows
     to measure IPI delivery time precisely"

ni_create_attr_list uses WARN_ON to catch error cases while generating
attribute list, which only prints out stack trace and may not be enough.
This repalces them with more proper error handling flow.

ntfs_read_ea is called when we want to read extended attributes. There
are some sanity checks for the validity of the EAs. However, it fails to
return a proper error code for the inconsistent attributes, which might
lead to unpredicted memory accesses after return.

vduse_vdpa_set_vq_affinity callback can be called
with NULL value as cpu_mask when deleting the vduse
device.

This patch resets virtqueue's IRQ affinity mask value
to set all CPUs instead of dereferencing NULL cpu_mask.

When LAN9303 is MDIO-connected two callchains exist into
mdio->bus->write():

1. switch ports 1&2 ("physical" PHYs):

virtual (switch-internal) MDIO bus (lan9303_switch_ops->phy_{read|write})->
  lan9303_mdio_phy_{read|write} -> mdiobus_{read|write}_nested

2. LAN9303 virtual PHY:

virtual MDIO bus (lan9303_phy_{read|write}) ->
  lan9303_virt_phy_reg_{read|write} -> regmap -> lan9303_mdio_{read|write}

If the latter functions just take
mutex_lock(&sw_dev->device->bus->mdio_lock) it triggers a LOCKDEP
false-positive splat. It's false-positive because the first
mdio_lock in the second callchain above belongs to virtual MDIO bus, the
second mdio_lock belongs to physical MDIO bus.

Consequent annotation in lan9303_mdio_{read|write} as nested lock
(similar to lan9303_mdio_phy_{read|write}, it's the same physical MDIO bus)
prevents the following splat:

Andrii Nakryiko says:

Tighten up arg:ctx type enforcement

Follow up fixes for kernel-side and libbpf-side logic around handling arg:ctx
(__arg_ctx) tagged arguments of BPF global subprogs.

Patch #1 adds libbpf feature detection of kernel-side __arg_ctx support to
avoid unnecessary rewriting BTF types. With stricter kernel-side type
enforcement this is now mandatory to avoid problems with using `struct
bpf_user_pt_regs_t` instead of actual typedef. For __arg_ctx tagged arguments
verifier is now supporting either `bpf_user_pt_regs_t` typedef or resolves it
down to the actual struct (pt_regs/user_pt_regs/user_regs_struct), depending
on architecture), but for old kernels without __arg_ctx support it's more
backwards compatible for libbpf to use `struct bpf_user_pt_regs_t` rewrite
which will work on wider range of kernels. So feature detection prevent libbpf
accidentally breaking global subprogs on new kernels.

We also adjust selftests to do similar feature detection (much simpler, but
potentially breaking due to kernel source code refactoring, which is fine for
selftests), and skip tests expecting libbpf's BTF type rewrites.

Patch #2 is preparatory refactoring for patch #3 which adds type enforcement
for arg:ctx tagged global subprog args. See the patch for specifics.

Patch #4 adds many new cases to ensure type logic works as expected.

Finally, patch #5 adds a relevant subset of kernel-side type checks to
__arg_ctx cases that libbpf supports rewrite of. In libbpf's case, type
violations are reported as warnings and BTF rewrite is not performed, which
will eventually lead to BPF verifier complaining at program verification time.

Good care was taken to avoid conflicts between bpf and bpf-next tree (which
has few follow up refactorings in the same code area). Once trees converge
some of the code will be moved around a bit (and some will be deleted), but
with no change to functionality or general shape of the code.

v2->v3:
  - support `bpf_user_pt_regs_t` typedef for KPROBE and PERF_EVENT (CI);
v1->v2:
  - add user_pt_regs and user_regs_struct support for PERF_EVENT (CI);
  - drop FEAT_ARG_CTX_TAG enum leftover from patch #1;
  - fix warning about default: without break in the switch (CI).

There is this reported crash when experimenting with the lvm2 testsuite.
The list corruption is caused by the fact that the postsuspend and resume
methods were not paired correctly; there were two consecutive calls to the
origin_postsuspend function. The second call attempts to remove the
"hash_list" entry from a list, while it was already removed by the first
call.

Fix __dm_internal_resume so that it calls the preresume and resume
methods of the table's targets.

If a preresume method of some target fails, we are in a tricky situation.
We can't return an error because dm_internal_resume isn't supposed to
return errors. We can't return success, because then the "resume" and
"postsuspend" methods would not be paired correctly. So, we set the
DMF_SUSPENDED flag and we fake normal suspend - it may confuse userspace
tools, but it won't cause a kernel crash.

stephensmalley pushed a commit to stephensmalley/selinux-kernel that referenced this issue May 2, 2024
The bug can be triggered by sending an amdgpu_cs_wait_ioctl
to the AMDGPU DRM driver on any ASICs with valid context.
The bug was reported by Joonkyo Jung <joonkyoj@yonsei.ac.kr>.
For example the following code:

    static void Syzkaller2(int fd)
    {
	union drm_amdgpu_ctx arg1;
	union drm_amdgpu_wait_cs arg2;

	arg1.in.op = AMDGPU_CTX_OP_ALLOC_CTX;
	ret = drmIoctl(fd, 0x140106442 /* amdgpu_ctx_ioctl */, &arg1);

	arg2.in.handle = 0x0;
	arg2.in.timeout = 0x2000000000000;
	arg2.in.ip_type = AMD_IP_VPE /* 0x9 */;
	arg2->in.ip_instance = 0x0;
	arg2.in.ring = 0x0;
	arg2.in.ctx_id = arg1.out.alloc.ctx_id;

	drmIoctl(fd, 0xc0206449 /* AMDGPU_WAIT_CS * /, &arg2);
    }

The ioctl AMDGPU_WAIT_CS without previously submitted job could be assumed that
the error should be returned, but the following commit 1decbf6
modified the logic and allowed to have sched_rq equal to NULL.

As a result when there is no job the ioctl AMDGPU_WAIT_CS returns success.
The change fixes null-ptr-deref in init entity and the stack below demonstrates
the error condition:

The driver creates /sys/kernel/debug/dri/0/mob_ttm even when the
corresponding ttm_resource_manager is not allocated.
This leads to a crash when trying to read from this file.

Add a check to create mob_ttm, system_mob_ttm, and gmr_ttm debug file
only when the corresponding ttm_resource_manager is allocated.

Patch SELinuxProject#2 reject table flag update interference with netdev basechain
	 hook updates, this can leave hooks in inconsistent

Patch SELinuxProject#3 do not unregister netdev basechain hooks if table is dormant.
	 Otherwise, splat with double unregistration is possible.

Patch SELinuxProject#4 fixes Kconfig to allow to restore IP_NF_ARPTABLES,

stephensmalley pushed a commit to stephensmalley/selinux-kernel that referenced this issue May 2, 2024
Drop support for virtualizing adaptive PEBS, as KVM's implementation is
architecturally broken without an obvious/easy path forward, and because
exposing adaptive PEBS can leak host LBRs to the guest, i.e. can leak
host kernel addresses to the guest.

Bug SELinuxProject#1 is that KVM doesn't account for the upper 32 bits of
IA32_FIXED_CTR_CTRL when (re)programming fixed counters, e.g
fixed_ctrl_field() drops the upper bits, reprogram_fixed_counters()
stores local variables as u8s and truncates the upper bits too, etc.

Bug SELinuxProject#2 is that, because KVM _always_ sets precise_ip to a non-zero value
for PEBS events, perf will _always_ generate an adaptive record, even if
the guest requested a basic record. Note, KVM will also enable adaptive
PEBS in individual *counter*, even if adaptive PEBS isn't exposed to the
guest, but this is benign as MSR_PEBS_DATA_CFG is guaranteed to be zero,
i.e. the guest will only ever see Basic records.

Bug SELinuxProject#3 is in perf. intel_pmu_disable_fixed() doesn't clear the upper
bits either, i.e. leaves ICL_FIXED_0_ADAPTIVE set, and
intel_pmu_enable_fixed() effectively doesn't clear ICL_FIXED_0_ADAPTIVE
either. I.e. perf _always_ enables ADAPTIVE counters, regardless of what
KVM requests.

Bug SELinuxProject#4 is that adaptive PEBS *might* effectively bypass event filters set
by the host, as "Updated Memory Access Info Group" records information
that might be disallowed by userspace via KVM_SET_PMU_EVENT_FILTER.

Bug SELinuxProject#5 is that KVM doesn't ensure LBR MSRs hold guest values (or at least
zeros) when entering a vCPU with adaptive PEBS, which allows the guest
to read host LBRs, i.e. host RIPs/addresses, by enabling "LBR Entries"
records.

Disable adaptive PEBS support as an immediate fix due to the severity of
the LBR leak in particular, and because fixing all of the bugs will be
non-trivial, e.g. not suitable for backporting to stable kernels.

Note! This will break live migration, but trying to make KVM play nice
with live migration would be quite complicated, wouldn't be guaranteed to
work (i.e. KVM might still kill/confuse the guest), and it's not clear
that there are any publicly available VMMs that support adaptive PEBS,
let alone live migrate VMs that support adaptive PEBS, e.g. QEMU doesn't
support PEBS in any capacity.

netfilter pull request 24-04-11

Pablo Neira Ayuso says:

====================
Netfilter fixes for net

The following patchset contains Netfilter fixes for net:

Patches SELinuxProject#1 and SELinuxProject#2 add missing rcu read side lock when iterating over
expression and object type list which could race with module removal.

Patch SELinuxProject#3 prevents promisc packet from visiting the bridge/input hook
	 to amend a recent fix to address conntrack confirmation race
	 in br_netfilter and nf_conntrack_bridge.

Patch SELinuxProject#4 adds and uses iterate decorator type to fetch the current
	 pipapo set backend datastructure view when netlink dumps the
	 set elements.

Patch SELinuxProject#5 fixes removal of duplicate elements in the pipapo set backend.

Patch SELinuxProject#6 flowtable validates pppoe header before accessing it.

Patch SELinuxProject#7 fixes flowtable datapath for pppoe packets, otherwise lookup
         fails and pppoe packets follow classic path.

 memory_failure
  __page_handle_poison
   zone_pcp_disable -- lock(pcp_batch_high_lock)
   dissolve_free_huge_page
    __hugetlb_vmemmap_restore_folio
     static_key_slow_dec
      cpus_read_lock -- rlock(cpu_hotplug_lock)

Fix this by calling drain_all_pages() instead.

This issue won't occur until commit a6b4085 ("mm: hugetlb: replace
hugetlb_free_vmemmap_enabled with a static_key").  As it introduced
rlock(cpu_hotplug_lock) in dissolve_free_huge_page() code path while
lock(pcp_batch_high_lock) is already in the __page_handle_poison().

vhost_worker will call tun call backs to receive packets. If too many
illegal packets arrives, tun_do_read will keep dumping packet contents.
When console is enabled, it will costs much more cpu time to dump
packet and soft lockup will be detected.

net_ratelimit mechanism can be used to limit the dumping rate.

Netfilter updates for net-next

The following patchset contains Netfilter updates for net-next:

Patch #1 skips transaction if object type provides no .update interface.

Patch #2 skips NETDEV_CHANGENAME which is unused.

Patch #3 enables conntrack to handle Multicast Router Advertisements and
	 Multicast Router Solicitations from the Multicast Router Discovery
	 protocol (RFC4286) as untracked opposed to invalid packets.
	 From Linus Luessing.

Patch #4 updates DCCP conntracker to mark invalid as invalid, instead of
	 dropping them, from Jason Xing.

Patch #5 uses NF_DROP instead of -NF_DROP since NF_DROP is 0,
	 also from Jason.

Patch #6 removes reference in netfilter's sysctl documentation on pickup
	 entries which were already removed by Florian Westphal.

Patch #7 removes check for IPS_OFFLOAD flag to disable early drop which
	 allows to evict entries from the conntrack table,
	 also from Florian.

Patches #8 to #16 updates nf_tables pipapo set backend to allocate
	 the datastructure copy on-demand from preparation phase,
	 to better deal with OOM situations where .commit step is too late
	 to fail. Series from Florian Westphal.

Patch #17 adds a selftest with packetdrill to cover conntrack TCP state
	 transitions, also from Florian.

Patch #18 use GFP_KERNEL to clone elements from control plane to avoid
	 quick atomic reserves exhaustion with large sets, reporter refers
	 to million entries magnitude.

When using cachefiles, lockdep may emit something similar to the circular
locking dependency notice below. The problem appears to stem from the
following:

 (1) Cachefiles manipulates xattrs on the files in its cache when called
     from ->writepages().

 (2) The setxattr() and removexattr() system call handlers get the name
     (and value) from userspace after taking the sb_writers lock, putting
     accesses of the vma->vm_lock and mm->mmap_lock inside of that.

 (3) The afs filesystem uses a per-inode lock to prevent multiple
     revalidation RPCs and in writeback vs truncate to prevent parallel
     operations from deadlocking against the server on one side and local
     page locks on the other.

Fix this by moving the getting of the name and value in {get,remove}xattr()
outside of the sb_writers lock. This also has the minor benefits that we
don't need to reget these in the event of a retry and we never try to take
the sb_writers lock in the event we can't pull the name and value into the
kernel.

Alternative approaches that might fix this include moving the dispatch of a
write to the cache off to a workqueue or trying to do without the
validation lock in afs. Note that this might also affect other filesystems
that use netfslib and/or cachefiles.

   mapping.invalidate_lock#3 --> &mm->mmap_lock --> &vma->vm_lock->lock

  Possible unsafe locking scenario:

        CPU0                    CPU1
        ----                    ----
   rlock(&vma->vm_lock->lock);
                                lock(&mm->mmap_lock);
                                lock(&vma->vm_lock->lock);
   rlock(mapping.invalidate_lock#3);
