Plan Overview

  1. When a new version of ARIA becomes a W3C Recommendation, AKA becomes a standard, it is accompanied by a new version of WAI-ARIA Authoring Practices.
  2. Note: WAI-ARIA 1.0 did not include an authoring practices guide; APG 1.0 was not completed.
  3. WAI-ARIA 1.1 became a recommendation on December 14, 2017, and it was accompanied by APG 1.1 Release 1.
  4. Since APG 1.1 does not cover all of ARIA 1.1, additional releases were made roughly every 6 months to make progress toward closing the coverage gap.
  5. In parallel with development of APG 1.1, APG 1.2 is also being developed to cover ARIA 1.2.
  6. A working draft of APG 1.2 will accompany each publication of a working draft of the ARIA 1.2 specification.
