Logbooks Lamp 1MLED
Lamp 1MLED is the basic lamp model for lamp with high lumous flux, that should act as a proof of concept for the Module 2 design.
The lamp design is pretty straightforward for two reasons.
- In many cases, the lamp can be mounted without any decoration because the lamp will not be visible at all (when mounting it under a kitchen cabinet)
- In cases where the lamp design should be visually appealing, it will be no big deal to add additional decoration to the aluminium profile.
So the only challenge of this lamp design is to come up with different options how to mount the aluminium profile. Another requirement is to find ways for protecting the LED modules from dust. Temperature management should be no bigger issue since the aluminium profile is optimal with respect to thermal resistance.
- Seven modules Module 2 were soldered
- First tests with LED Module 2 done
- First temperature tests in progress
For lamp 1MLED seven Module 2 modules had to be soldered. For me it was the first time I soldered so many modules in one go. The experience was that it is really no big deal: applying the soldering paste and pick and place of the LEDs and the resistor takes just 2 - 3 minutes per module. Then you can solder all modules in one go in 10 minutes (using a semi-professional soldering oven).
The first temperature tests to be carried out are a comparison of special thermal conductive adhesive tape (which is expensive) versus "normal" double sided adhesive tape.
