Logbooks Lamp 40FLATLED
Lamp 40FLATLED is the basic lamp model for a lamp with moderate luminous flux, that should act as a proof of concept for the Module 2 design.
The idea was to use globally available, off the shelve parts to assemble this lamp. Therefore the lamp design was implemented as an IKEA hack.
The goal of this lamp model is to come up with a temperature management strategy. Since the RIBBA picture frame is like a closed box, it will be challenge to keep the LED temperature in a reasonable range.

The main challenge of lamp 40FLATLED is to find a temperature management strategy. Therefore my first step was to run some temperature tests under different conditions.
40FLATLED temperature test (an Arduino was used for measuring the temperature)
The results of the measurements are given below. The uppermost curve shows the rising heat without any cooling. The peak temperature was 51 degrees celsius. The lower curves illustrate the influence of different cooling measures (adding holes to the back plane, attaching metal pads to the modules). The most successful method was adding metal pads and connecting them with aluminium profiles as depicted in the image above. When doing that, the temperature dropped to 47 degrees celsius.
