Building Stratux Europe Edition

Gauthier Canque edited this page Aug 12, 2024 · 10 revisions

Since Stratux is an evolving open source project, there is no "one and only" Stratux. Stratux Europe Edition supports a variety of different accessories that can be mixed and matched freely. Compare it to a computer, where you would usually plug in all devices that suit your needs. E.g. a printer, a webcam, two screens, a surround sound system, ..., but you don't have to. Many of the devices you plug into a computer are optional, and the same applies to a Stratux.

And just like a computer, you can always upgrade your Stratux down the line with more components.

This page shows three common ways that will bring you to a Stratux device in a common configuration. The first two give you basic traffic reception capabilities, the third one also gives you transmission capabilities, so other aircraft get warned about your presence. This is especially useful if you often fly aircraft that are not ADS-B-out equipped.

Building a Stratux is typically fairly easy. Only build 3 requires some minor soldering. Build 1 and 2 are "plug and play".

Build example 1: For the not so tech savvy: A pre built unit or kit from e.g. Amazon

Build example 2: For the advanced

Build example 3: Include transmission capabilities, so others can see you aswell

Other options

There are plenty other devices that can be connected to your Stratux. See Supported hardware list.
