Both arch_add_memory() and arch_remove_memory() expect a single threaded context. For example, arch/x86/mm/init_64.c::kernel_physical_mapping_init() does not hold any locks over this check and branch: if (pgd_val(*pgd)) { pud = (pud_t *)pgd_page_vaddr(*pgd); paddr_last = phys_pud_init(pud, __pa(vaddr), __pa(vaddr_end), page_size_mask); continue; } pud = alloc_low_page(); paddr_last = phys_pud_init(pud, __pa(vaddr), __pa(vaddr_end), page_size_mask); The result is that two threads calling devm_memremap_pages() simultaneously can end up colliding on pgd initialization. This leads to crash signatures like the following where the loser of the race initializes the wrong pgd entry: BUG: unable to handle kernel paging request at ffff888ebfff0000 IP: memcpy_erms+0x6/0x10 PGD 2f8e8fc067 PUD 0 /* <---- Invalid PUD */ Oops: 0000 [openbmc#1] SMP DEBUG_PAGEALLOC CPU: 54 PID: 3818 Comm: systemd-udevd Not tainted 4.6.7+ openbmc#13 task: ffff882fac290040 ti: ffff882f887a4000 task.ti: ffff882f887a4000 RIP: memcpy_erms+0x6/0x10 [..] Call Trace: ? pmem_do_bvec+0x205/0x370 [nd_pmem] ? blk_queue_enter+0x3a/0x280 pmem_rw_page+0x38/0x80 [nd_pmem] bdev_read_page+0x84/0xb0 Hold the standard memory hotplug mutex over calls to arch_{add,remove}_memory(). [ Upstream commit 45caeaa ] As Eric Dumazet pointed out this also needs to be fixed in IPv6. v2: Contains the IPv6 tcp/Ipv6 dccp patches as well. We have seen a few incidents lately where a dst_enty has been freed with a dangling TCP socket reference (sk->sk_dst_cache) pointing to that dst_entry. If the conditions/timings are right a crash then ensues when the freed dst_entry is referenced later on. A Common crashing back trace is: openbmc#8 [] page_fault at ffffffff8163e648 [exception RIP: __tcp_ack_snd_check+74] . . openbmc#9 [] tcp_rcv_established at ffffffff81580b64 openbmc#10 [] tcp_v4_do_rcv at ffffffff8158b54a openbmc#11 [] tcp_v4_rcv at ffffffff8158cd02 openbmc#12 [] ip_local_deliver_finish at ffffffff815668f4 openbmc#13 [] ip_local_deliver at ffffffff81566bd9 openbmc#14 [] ip_rcv_finish at ffffffff8156656d openbmc#15 [] ip_rcv at ffffffff81566f06 openbmc#16 [] __netif_receive_skb_core at ffffffff8152b3a2 openbmc#17 [] __netif_receive_skb at ffffffff8152b608 openbmc#18 [] netif_receive_skb at ffffffff8152b690 openbmc#19 [] vmxnet3_rq_rx_complete at ffffffffa015eeaf [vmxnet3] openbmc#20 [] vmxnet3_poll_rx_only at ffffffffa015f32a [vmxnet3] openbmc#21 [] net_rx_action at ffffffff8152bac2 openbmc#22 [] __do_softirq at ffffffff81084b4f openbmc#23 [] call_softirq at ffffffff8164845c openbmc#24 [] do_softirq at ffffffff81016fc5 openbmc#25 [] irq_exit at ffffffff81084ee5 openbmc#26 [] do_IRQ at ffffffff81648ff8 Of course it may happen with other NIC drivers as well. It's found the freed dst_entry here: 224 static bool tcp_in_quickack_mode(struct sock *sk)↩ 225 {↩ 226 ▹ const struct inet_connection_sock *icsk = inet_csk(sk);↩ 227 ▹ const struct dst_entry *dst = __sk_dst_get(sk);↩ 228 ↩ 229 ▹ return (dst && dst_metric(dst, RTAX_QUICKACK)) ||↩ 230 ▹ ▹ (icsk->icsk_ack.quick && !icsk->icsk_ack.pingpong);↩ 231 }↩ But there are other backtraces attributed to the same freed dst_entry in netfilter code as well. All the vmcores showed 2 significant clues: - Remote hosts behind the default gateway had always been redirected to a different gateway. A rtable/dst_entry will be added for that host. Making more dst_entrys with lower reference counts. Making this more probable. - All vmcores showed a postitive LockDroppedIcmps value, e.g: LockDroppedIcmps 267 A closer look at the tcp_v4_err() handler revealed that do_redirect() will run regardless of whether user space has the socket locked. This can result in a race condition where the same dst_entry cached in sk->sk_dst_entry can be decremented twice for the same socket via: do_redirect()->__sk_dst_check()-> dst_release(). Which leads to the dst_entry being prematurely freed with another socket pointing to it via sk->sk_dst_cache and a subsequent crash. To fix this skip do_redirect() if usespace has the socket locked. Instead let the redirect take place later when user space does not have the socket locked. The dccp/IPv6 code is very similar in this respect, so fixing it there too. As Eric Garver pointed out the following commit now invalidates routes. Which can set the dst->obsolete flag so that ipv4_dst_check() returns null and triggers the dst_release(). This is reproducible easily as can be seen by WARNING below which is triggered with line: WARN_ON(dev->ctrl.state == NVME_CTRL_RESETTING) Allowing multiple resets can result in multiple controller removal as well if different conditions inside nvme_reset_work fail and which might deadlock on device_release_driver. The NCSI driver defines a generic ncsi_channel_filter struct that can be used to store arbitrarily formatted filters, and several generic methods of accessing data stored in such a filter. However in both the driver and as defined in the NCSI specification there are only two actual filters: VLAN ID filters and MAC address filters. The splitting of the MAC filter into unicast, multicast, and mixed is also technically not necessary as these are stored in the same location in hardware. To save complexity, particularly in the set up and accessing of these generic filters, remove them in favour of two specific structs. These can be acted on directly and do not need several generic helper functions to use. commit 7030342 upstream. The syzkaller detected a out-of-bounds issue with the events filter code, specifically here: prog[N].pred = NULL; /* #13 */ prog[N].target = 1; /* TRUE */ prog[N+1].pred = NULL; prog[N+1].target = 0; /* FALSE */ -> prog[N-1].target = N; prog[N-1].when_to_branch = false; As that's the first reference to a "N-1" index, it appears that the code got here with N = 0, which means the filter parser found no filter to parse (which shouldn't ever happen, but apparently it did). Add a new error to the parsing code that will check to make sure that N is not zero before going into this part of the code. If N = 0, then -EINVAL is returned, and a error message is added to the filter. This also fixes a memory error found by KASAN on ARM32 (which is not upstream yet), where response handlers accessing a filter's data field could write past allocated memory. Indeed, the lock acquired in uart_put_char() is uport->lock, i.e. not the same lock. Anyway, since the lock is not acquired, if uart_shutdown() is called, the last chunk of that function may release state->xmit.buf before its assigned to null, and cause the race above. To fix it, let's lock uport->lock when allocating/deallocating state->xmit.buf in addition to the per-port mutex. v2: switch to locking uport->lock on allocation/deallocation instead of locking the per-port mutex in uart_put_char. Note that since uport->lock is a spin lock, we have to switch the allocation to GFP_ATOMIC. v3: move the allocation outside the lock, so we can switch back to GFP_KERNEL Signed-off-by: Tycho Andersen <tycho@tycho.ws> Cc: stable <stable@vger.kernel.org> Signed-off-by: Greg Kroah-Hartman <gregkh@linuxfoundation.org>

[ Upstream commit c5a94f4 ] It was observed that a process blocked indefintely in __fscache_read_or_alloc_page(), waiting for FSCACHE_COOKIE_LOOKING_UP to be cleared via fscache_wait_for_deferred_lookup(). At this time, ->backing_objects was empty, which would normaly prevent __fscache_read_or_alloc_page() from getting to the point of waiting. This implies that ->backing_objects was cleared *after* __fscache_read_or_alloc_page was was entered. When an object is "killed" and then "dropped", FSCACHE_COOKIE_LOOKING_UP is cleared in fscache_lookup_failure(), then KILL_OBJECT and DROP_OBJECT are "called" and only in DROP_OBJECT is ->backing_objects cleared. This leaves a window where something else can set FSCACHE_COOKIE_LOOKING_UP and __fscache_read_or_alloc_page() can start waiting, before ->backing_objects is cleared There is some uncertainty in this analysis, but it seems to be fit the observations. Adding the wake in this patch will be handled correctly by __fscache_read_or_alloc_page(), as it checks if ->backing_objects is empty again, after waiting. Customer which reported the hang, also report that the hang cannot be reproduced with this fix. The backtrace for the blocked process looked like: PID: 29360 TASK: ffff881ff2ac0f80 CPU: 3 COMMAND: "zsh" #0 [ffff881ff43efbf8] schedule at ffffffff815e56f1 #1 [ffff881ff43efc58] bit_wait at ffffffff815e64ed #2 [ffff881ff43efc68] __wait_on_bit at ffffffff815e61b8 #3 [ffff881ff43efca0] out_of_line_wait_on_bit at ffffffff815e625e #4 [ffff881ff43efd08] fscache_wait_for_deferred_lookup at ffffffffa04f2e8f [fscache] #5 [ffff881ff43efd18] __fscache_read_or_alloc_page at ffffffffa04f2ffe [fscache] #6 [ffff881ff43efd58] __nfs_readpage_from_fscache at ffffffffa0679668 [nfs] #7 [ffff881ff43efd78] nfs_readpage at ffffffffa067092b [nfs] #8 [ffff881ff43efda0] generic_file_read_iter at ffffffff81187a73 #9 [ffff881ff43efe50] nfs_file_read at ffffffffa066544b [nfs] #10 [ffff881ff43efe70] __vfs_read at ffffffff811fc756 #11 [ffff881ff43efee8] vfs_read at ffffffff811fccfa #12 [ffff881ff43eff18] sys_read at ffffffff811fda62 #13 [ffff881ff43eff50] entry_SYSCALL_64_fastpath at ffffffff815e986e Signed-off-by: NeilBrown <neilb@suse.com> Signed-off-by: David Howells <dhowells@redhat.com> Signed-off-by: Sasha Levin <sashal@kernel.org>

commit 8f9c469 upstream. Keys for "authenc" AEADs are formatted as an rtattr containing a 4-byte 'enckeylen', followed by an authentication key and an encryption key. crypto_authenc_extractkeys() parses the key to find the inner keys. However, it fails to consider the case where the rtattr's payload is longer than 4 bytes but not 4-byte aligned, and where the key ends before the next 4-byte aligned boundary. In this case, 'keylen -= RTA_ALIGN(rta->rta_len);' underflows to a value near UINT_MAX. This causes a buffer overread and crash during crypto_ahash_setkey(). Fix it by restricting the rtattr payload to the expected size. Reproducer using AF_ALG: #include <linux/if_alg.h> #include <linux/rtnetlink.h> #include <sys/socket.h> int main() { int fd; struct sockaddr_alg addr = { .salg_type = "aead", .salg_name = "authenc(hmac(sha256),cbc(aes))", }; struct { struct rtattr attr; __be32 enckeylen; char keys[1]; } __attribute__((packed)) key = { .attr.rta_len = sizeof(key), .attr.rta_type = 1 /* CRYPTO_AUTHENC_KEYA_PARAM */, }; fd = socket(AF_ALG, SOCK_SEQPACKET, 0); bind(fd, (void *)&addr, sizeof(addr)); setsockopt(fd, SOL_ALG, ALG_SET_KEY, &key, sizeof(key)); } It caused: BUG: unable to handle kernel paging request at ffff88007ffdc000 PGD 2e01067 P4D 2e01067 PUD 2e04067 PMD 2e05067 PTE 0 Oops: 0000 [#1] SMP CPU: 0 PID: 883 Comm: authenc Not tainted 4.20.0-rc1-00108-g00c9fe37a7f27 #13 Hardware name: QEMU Standard PC (i440FX + PIIX, 1996), BIOS 1.12.0-20181126_142135-anatol 04/01/2014 RIP: 0010:sha256_ni_transform+0xb3/0x330 arch/x86/crypto/sha256_ni_asm.S:155 [...] Call Trace: sha256_ni_finup+0x10/0x20 arch/x86/crypto/sha256_ssse3_glue.c:321 crypto_shash_finup+0x1a/0x30 crypto/shash.c:178 shash_digest_unaligned+0x45/0x60 crypto/shash.c:186 crypto_shash_digest+0x24/0x40 crypto/shash.c:202 hmac_setkey+0x135/0x1e0 crypto/hmac.c:66 crypto_shash_setkey+0x2b/0xb0 crypto/shash.c:66 shash_async_setkey+0x10/0x20 crypto/shash.c:223 crypto_ahash_setkey+0x2d/0xa0 crypto/ahash.c:202 crypto_authenc_setkey+0x68/0x100 crypto/authenc.c:96 crypto_aead_setkey+0x2a/0xc0 crypto/aead.c:62 aead_setkey+0xc/0x10 crypto/algif_aead.c:526 alg_setkey crypto/af_alg.c:223 [inline] alg_setsockopt+0xfe/0x130 crypto/af_alg.c:256 __sys_setsockopt+0x6d/0xd0 net/socket.c:1902 __do_sys_setsockopt net/socket.c:1913 [inline] __se_sys_setsockopt net/socket.c:1910 [inline] __x64_sys_setsockopt+0x1f/0x30 net/socket.c:1910 do_syscall_64+0x4a/0x180 arch/x86/entry/common.c:290 entry_SYSCALL_64_after_hwframe+0x49/0xbe Fixes: e236d4a ("[CRYPTO] authenc: Move enckeylen into key itself") Cc: <stable@vger.kernel.org> # v2.6.25+ Signed-off-by: Eric Biggers <ebiggers@google.com> Signed-off-by: Herbert Xu <herbert@gondor.apana.org.au> Signed-off-by: Greg Kroah-Hartman <gregkh@linuxfoundation.org>

commit 60f1bf2 upstream. When calling smp_call_ipl_cpu() from the IPL CPU, we will try to read from pcpu_devices->lowcore. However, due to prefixing, that will result in reading from absolute address 0 on that CPU. We have to go via the actual lowcore instead. This means that right now, we will read lc->nodat_stack == 0 and therfore work on a very wrong stack. This BUG essentially broke rebooting under QEMU TCG (which will report a low address protection exception). And checking under KVM, it is also broken under KVM. With 1 VCPU it can be easily triggered. :/# echo 1 > /proc/sys/kernel/sysrq :/# echo b > /proc/sysrq-trigger [ 28.476745] sysrq: SysRq : Resetting [ 28.476793] Kernel stack overflow. commit d0a255e upstream. A deadlock with this stacktrace was observed. The loop thread does a GFP_KERNEL allocation, it calls into dm-bufio shrinker and the shrinker depends on I/O completion in the dm-bufio subsystem. In order to fix the deadlock (and other similar ones), we set the flag PF_MEMALLOC_NOIO at loop thread entry. commit cf3591e upstream. Revert the commit bd293d0. The proper fix has been made available with commit d0a255e ("loop: set PF_MEMALLOC_NOIO for the worker thread"). Note that the fix offered by commit bd293d0 doesn't really prevent the deadlock from occuring - if we look at the stacktrace reported by Junxiao Bi, we see that it hangs in bit_wait_io and not on the mutex - i.e. it has already successfully taken the mutex. Changing the mutex from mutex_lock to mutex_trylock won't help with deadlocks that happen afterwards. [ Upstream commit f591822 ] Once implicit MR is being called to be released by ib_umem_notifier_release() its leaves were marked as "dying". However, when dereg_mr()->mlx5_ib_free_implicit_mr()->mr_leaf_free() is called, it skips running the mr_leaf_free_action (i.e. umem_odp->work) when those leaves were marked as "dying". As such ib_umem_release() for the leaves won't be called and their MRs will be leaked as well. When an application exits/killed without calling dereg_mr we might hit the above flow. This fatal scenario is reported by WARN_ON() upon mlx5_ib_dealloc_ucontext() as ibcontext->per_mm_list is not empty, the call trace can be seen below. Originally the "dying" mark as part of ib_umem_notifier_release() was introduced to prevent pagefault_mr() from returning a success response once this happened. However, we already have today the completion mechanism so no need for that in those flows any more. Even in case a success response will be returned the firmware will not find the pages and an error will be returned in the following call as a released mm will cause ib_umem_odp_map_dma_pages() to permanently fail mmget_not_zero(). Fix the above issue by dropping the "dying" from the above flows. The other flows that are using "dying" are still needed it for their synchronization purposes. [ Upstream commit c268e7a ] KASAN: global-out-of-bounds Read in dvb_pll_attach Syzbot reported global-out-of-bounds Read in dvb_pll_attach, while accessing id[dvb_pll_devcount], because dvb_pll_devcount was 65, that is more than size of 'id' which is DVB_PLL_MAX(64). Rather than increasing dvb_pll_devcount every time, use ida so that numbers are allocated correctly. This does mean that no more than 64 devices can be attached at the same time, but this is more than sufficient. usb 1-1: dvb_usb_v2: will pass the complete MPEG2 transport stream to the software demuxer dvbdev: DVB: registering new adapter (774 Friio White ISDB-T USB2.0) usb 1-1: media controller created dvbdev: dvb_create_media_entity: media entity 'dvb-demux' registered. tc90522 0-0018: Toshiba TC90522 attached. usb 1-1: DVB: registering adapter 0 frontend 0 (Toshiba TC90522 ISDB-T module)... dvbdev: dvb_create_media_entity: media entity 'Toshiba TC90522 ISDB-T module' registered. ================================================================== BUG: KASAN: global-out-of-bounds in dvb_pll_attach+0x6c5/0x830 drivers/media/dvb-frontends/dvb-pll.c:798 Read of size 4 at addr ffffffff89c9e5e0 by task kworker/0:1/12 CPU: 0 PID: 12 Comm: kworker/0:1 Not tainted 5.2.0-rc6+ #13 Hardware name: Google Google Compute Engine/Google Compute Engine, BIOS Google 01/01/2011 Workqueue: usb_hub_wq hub_event Call Trace: __dump_stack lib/dump_stack.c:77 [inline] dump_stack+0xca/0x13e lib/dump_stack.c:113 print_address_description+0x67/0x231 mm/kasan/report.c:188 __kasan_report.cold+0x1a/0x32 mm/kasan/report.c:317 kasan_report+0xe/0x20 mm/kasan/common.c:614 dvb_pll_attach+0x6c5/0x830 drivers/media/dvb-frontends/dvb-pll.c:798 dvb_pll_probe+0xfe/0x174 drivers/media/dvb-frontends/dvb-pll.c:877 i2c_device_probe+0x790/0xaa0 drivers/i2c/i2c-core-base.c:389 really_probe+0x281/0x660 drivers/base/dd.c:509 driver_probe_device+0x104/0x210 drivers/base/dd.c:670 __device_attach_driver+0x1c2/0x220 drivers/base/dd.c:777 bus_for_each_drv+0x15c/0x1e0 drivers/base/bus.c:454 __device_attach+0x217/0x360 drivers/base/dd.c:843 bus_probe_device+0x1e4/0x290 drivers/base/bus.c:514 device_add+0xae6/0x16f0 drivers/base/core.c:2111 i2c_new_client_device+0x5b3/0xc40 drivers/i2c/i2c-core-base.c:778 i2c_new_device+0x19/0x50 drivers/i2c/i2c-core-base.c:821 dvb_module_probe+0xf9/0x220 drivers/media/dvb-core/dvbdev.c:985 friio_tuner_attach+0x125/0x1d0 drivers/media/usb/dvb-usb-v2/gl861.c:536 dvb_usbv2_adapter_frontend_init drivers/media/usb/dvb-usb-v2/dvb_usb_core.c:675 [inline] dvb_usbv2_adapter_init drivers/media/usb/dvb-usb-v2/dvb_usb_core.c:804 [inline] dvb_usbv2_init drivers/media/usb/dvb-usb-v2/dvb_usb_core.c:865 [inline] dvb_usbv2_probe.cold+0x24dc/0x255d drivers/media/usb/dvb-usb-v2/dvb_usb_core.c:980 usb_probe_interface+0x305/0x7a0 drivers/usb/core/driver.c:361 really_probe+0x281/0x660 drivers/base/dd.c:509 driver_probe_device+0x104/0x210 drivers/base/dd.c:670 __device_attach_driver+0x1c2/0x220 drivers/base/dd.c:777 bus_for_each_drv+0x15c/0x1e0 drivers/base/bus.c:454 __device_attach+0x217/0x360 drivers/base/dd.c:843 bus_probe_device+0x1e4/0x290 drivers/base/bus.c:514 device_add+0xae6/0x16f0 drivers/base/core.c:2111 usb_set_configuration+0xdf6/0x1670 drivers/usb/core/message.c:2023 generic_probe+0x9d/0xd5 drivers/usb/core/generic.c:210 usb_probe_device+0x99/0x100 drivers/usb/core/driver.c:266 really_probe+0x281/0x660 drivers/base/dd.c:509 driver_probe_device+0x104/0x210 drivers/base/dd.c:670 __device_attach_driver+0x1c2/0x220 drivers/base/dd.c:777 bus_for_each_drv+0x15c/0x1e0 drivers/base/bus.c:454 __device_attach+0x217/0x360 drivers/base/dd.c:843 bus_probe_device+0x1e4/0x290 drivers/base/bus.c:514 device_add+0xae6/0x16f0 drivers/base/core.c:2111 usb_new_device.cold+0x8c1/0x1016 drivers/usb/core/hub.c:2534 hub_port_connect drivers/usb/core/hub.c:5089 [inline] hub_port_connect_change drivers/usb/core/hub.c:5204 [inline] port_event drivers/usb/core/hub.c:5350 [inline] hub_event+0x1ada/0x3590 drivers/usb/core/hub.c:5432 process_one_work+0x905/0x1570 kernel/workqueue.c:2269 process_scheduled_works kernel/workqueue.c:2331 [inline] worker_thread+0x7ab/0xe20 kernel/workqueue.c:2417 kthread+0x30b/0x410 kernel/kthread.c:255 ret_from_fork+0x24/0x30 arch/x86/entry/entry_64.S:352 The buggy address belongs to the variable: id+0x100/0x120 Memory state around the buggy address: ffffffff89c9e480: fa fa fa fa 00 00 fa fa fa fa fa fa 00 00 00 00 ffffffff89c9e500: 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 > ffffffff89c9e580: 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 fa fa fa fa ^ ffffffff89c9e600: 04 fa fa fa fa fa fa fa 04 fa fa fa fa fa fa fa ffffffff89c9e680: 04 fa fa fa fa fa fa fa 04 fa fa fa fa fa fa fa ================================================================== Reported-by: syzbot+8a8f48672560c8ca59dd@syzkaller.appspotmail.com Signed-off-by: Sean Young <sean@mess.org> Signed-off-by: Mauro Carvalho Chehab <mchehab+samsung@kernel.org> Signed-off-by: Sasha Levin <sashal@kernel.org>

Since new_slave will be put in the subsequent error handling process, remove the unnecessary put to fix it. In addition, when sysfs_create_file() fails, if some files have been crea- ted successfully, we need to call sysfs_remove_file() to remove them. Since there are sysfs_create_files() & sysfs_remove_files() can be used, use these two functions instead. [ Upstream commit fe2640b ] In remove_phb_dynamic() we use &phb->io_resource, after we've called device_unregister(&host_bridge->dev). But the unregister may have freed phb, because pcibios_free_controller_deferred() is the release function for the host_bridge. If there are no outstanding references when we call device_unregister() then phb will be freed out from under us. commit 66f133c upstream. When CONFIG_DEBUG_KMAP_LOCAL is enabled __kmap_local_sched_{in,out} check that even slots in the tsk->kmap_ctrl.pteval are unmapped. The slots are initialized with 0 value, but the check is done with pte_none. 0 pte however does not necessarily mean that pte_none will return true. e.g. on xtensa it returns false, resulting in the following runtime warnings: WARNING: CPU: 0 PID: 101 at mm/highmem.c:627 __kmap_local_sched_out+0x51/0x108 CPU: 0 PID: 101 Comm: touch Not tainted 5.17.0-rc7-00010-gd3a1cdde80d2-dirty #13 Call Trace: dump_stack+0xc/0x40 __warn+0x8f/0x174 warn_slowpath_fmt+0x48/0xac __kmap_local_sched_out+0x51/0x108 __schedule+0x71a/0x9c4 preempt_schedule_irq+0xa0/0xe0 common_exception_return+0x5c/0x93 do_wp_page+0x30e/0x330 handle_mm_fault+0xa70/0xc3c do_page_fault+0x1d8/0x3c4 common_exception+0x7f/0x7f WARNING: CPU: 0 PID: 101 at mm/highmem.c:664 __kmap_local_sched_in+0x50/0xe0 CPU: 0 PID: 101 Comm: touch Tainted: G W 5.17.0-rc7-00010-gd3a1cdde80d2-dirty #13 Call Trace: dump_stack+0xc/0x40 __warn+0x8f/0x174 warn_slowpath_fmt+0x48/0xac __kmap_local_sched_in+0x50/0xe0 finish_task_switch$isra$0+0x1ce/0x2f8 __schedule+0x86e/0x9c4 preempt_schedule_irq+0xa0/0xe0 common_exception_return+0x5c/0x93 do_wp_page+0x30e/0x330 handle_mm_fault+0xa70/0xc3c do_page_fault+0x1d8/0x3c4 common_exception+0x7f/0x7f Fix it by replacing !pte_none(pteval) with pte_val(pteval) != 0. [ 0.506693] Callback from call_rcu_tasks() invoked. This commit therefore fixes this issue by applying a single-CPU optimization to the RCU Tasks Rude grace-period process. The key point here is that the purpose of this RCU flavor is to force a schedule on each online CPU since some past event. But the rcu_tasks_rude_wait_gp() function runs in the context of the RCU Tasks Rude's grace-period kthread, so there must already have been a context switch on the current CPU since the call to either synchronize_rcu_tasks_rude() or call_rcu_tasks_rude(). So if there is only a single CPU online, RCU Tasks Rude's grace-period kthread does not need to anything at all. It turns out that the rcu_tasks_rude_wait_gp() function's call to schedule_on_each_cpu() causes problems during early boot. During that time, there is only one online CPU, namely the boot CPU. Therefore, applying this single-CPU optimization fixes early-boot instances of this problem. [ Upstream commit a625357 ] Sometimes it is necessary to use a PLT entry to call an ftrace trampoline. This is handled by ftrace_make_call() and ftrace_make_nop(), with each having *almost* identical logic, but this is not handled by ftrace_modify_call() since its introduction in commit: 3b23e49 ("arm64: implement ftrace with regs") Due to this, if we ever were to call ftrace_modify_call() for a callsite which requires a PLT entry for a trampoline, then either: a) If the old addr requires a trampoline, ftrace_modify_call() will use an out-of-range address to generate the 'old' branch instruction. This will result in warnings from aarch64_insn_gen_branch_imm() and ftrace_modify_code(), and no instructions will be modified. As ftrace_modify_call() will return an error, this will result in subsequent internal ftrace errors. b) If the old addr does not require a trampoline, but the new addr does, ftrace_modify_call() will use an out-of-range address to generate the 'new' branch instruction. This will result in warnings from aarch64_insn_gen_branch_imm(), and ftrace_modify_code() will replace the 'old' branch with a BRK. This will result in a kernel panic when this BRK is later executed. Practically speaking, case (a) is vastly more likely than case (b), and typically this will result in internal ftrace errors that don't necessarily affect the rest of the system. This can be demonstrated with an out-of-tree test module which triggers ftrace_modify_call(), e.g. | # insmod test_ftrace.ko | test_ftrace: Function test_function raw=0xffffb3749399201c, callsite=0xffffb37493992024 | branch_imm_common: offset out of range | branch_imm_common: offset out of range | ------------[ ftrace bug ]------------ | ftrace failed to modify | [<ffffb37493992024>] test_function+0x8/0x38 [test_ftrace] | actual: 1d:00:00:94 | Updating ftrace call site to call a different ftrace function | ftrace record flags: e0000002 | (2) R | expected tramp: ffffb374ae42ed54 | ------------[ cut here ]------------ | WARNING: CPU: 0 PID: 165 at kernel/trace/ftrace.c:2085 ftrace_bug+0x280/0x2b0 | Modules linked in: test_ftrace(+) | CPU: 0 PID: 165 Comm: insmod Not tainted 5.19.0-rc2-00002-g4d9ead8b45ce #13 | Hardware name: linux,dummy-virt (DT) | pstate: 60400005 (nZCv daif +PAN -UAO -TCO -DIT -SSBS BTYPE=--) | pc : ftrace_bug+0x280/0x2b0 | lr : ftrace_bug+0x280/0x2b0 | sp : ffff80000839ba00 | x29: ffff80000839ba00 x28: 0000000000000000 x27: ffff80000839bcf0 | x26: ffffb37493994180 x25: ffffb374b0991c28 x24: ffffb374b0d70000 | x23: 00000000ffffffea x22: ffffb374afcc33b0 x21: ffffb374b08f9cc8 | x20: ffff572b8462c000 x19: ffffb374b08f9000 x18: ffffffffffffffff | x17: 6c6c6163202c6331 x16: ffffb374ae5ad110 x15: ffffb374b0d51ee4 | x14: 0000000000000000 x13: 3435646532346561 x12: 3437336266666666 | x11: 203a706d61727420 x10: 6465746365707865 x9 : ffffb374ae5149e8 | x8 : 336266666666203a x7 : 706d617274206465 x6 : 00000000fffff167 | x5 : ffff572bffbc4a08 x4 : 00000000fffff167 x3 : 0000000000000000 | x2 : 0000000000000000 x1 : ffff572b84461e00 x0 : 0000000000000022 | Call trace: | ftrace_bug+0x280/0x2b0 | ftrace_replace_code+0x98/0xa0 | ftrace_modify_all_code+0xe0/0x144 | arch_ftrace_update_code+0x14/0x20 | ftrace_startup+0xf8/0x1b0 | register_ftrace_function+0x38/0x90 | test_ftrace_init+0xd0/0x1000 [test_ftrace] | do_one_initcall+0x50/0x2b0 | do_init_module+0x50/0x1f0 | load_module+0x17c8/0x1d64 | __do_sys_finit_module+0xa8/0x100 | __arm64_sys_finit_module+0x2c/0x3c | invoke_syscall+0x50/0x120 | el0_svc_common.constprop.0+0xdc/0x100 | do_el0_svc+0x3c/0xd0 | el0_svc+0x34/0xb0 | el0t_64_sync_handler+0xbc/0x140 | el0t_64_sync+0x18c/0x190 | ---[ end trace 0000000000000000 ]--- We can solve this by consistently determining whether to use a PLT entry for an address. Note that since (the earlier) commit: f1a54ae ("arm64: module/ftrace: intialize PLT at load time") ... we can consistently determine the PLT address that a given callsite will use, and therefore ftrace_make_nop() does not need to skip validation when a PLT is in use. This patch factors the existing logic out of ftrace_make_call() and ftrace_make_nop() into a common ftrace_find_callable_addr() helper function, which is used by ftrace_make_call(), ftrace_make_nop(), and ftrace_modify_call(). In ftrace_make_nop() the patching is consistently validated by ftrace_modify_code() as we can always determine what the old instruction should have been. [ Upstream commit 5c30e81 ] Skip the WRMSR fastpath in SVM's VM-Exit handler if the next RIP isn't valid, e.g. because KVM is running with nrips=false. SVM must decode and emulate to skip the WRMSR if the CPU doesn't provide the next RIP. Getting the instruction bytes to decode the WRMSR requires reading guest memory, which in turn means dereferencing memslots, and that isn't safe because KVM doesn't hold SRCU when the fastpath runs. Don't bother trying to enable the fastpath for this case, e.g. by doing only the WRMSR and leaving the "skip" until later. NRIPS is supported on all modern CPUs (KVM has considered making it mandatory), and the next RIP will be valid the vast, vast majority of the time. ============================= WARNING: suspicious RCU usage 6.0.0-smp--4e557fcd3d80-skip #13 Tainted: G O ----------------------------- include/linux/kvm_host.h:954 suspicious rcu_dereference_check() usage! other info that might help us debug this: rcu_scheduler_active = 2, debug_locks = 1 1 lock held by stable/206475: #0: ffff9d9dfebcc0f0 (&vcpu->mutex){+.+.}-{3:3}, at: kvm_vcpu_ioctl+0x8b/0x620 [kvm] stack backtrace: CPU: 152 PID: 206475 Comm: stable Tainted: G O 6.0.0-smp--4e557fcd3d80-skip #13 Hardware name: Google, Inc. [ Upstream commit b16904f ] With latest upstream llvm18, the following test cases failed: $ ./test_progs -j #13/2 bpf_cookie/multi_kprobe_link_api:FAIL #13/3 bpf_cookie/multi_kprobe_attach_api:FAIL #13 bpf_cookie:FAIL #77 fentry_fexit:FAIL #78/1 fentry_test/fentry:FAIL #78 fentry_test:FAIL #82/1 fexit_test/fexit:FAIL #82 fexit_test:FAIL #112/1 kprobe_multi_test/skel_api:FAIL #112/2 kprobe_multi_test/link_api_addrs:FAIL [...] #112 kprobe_multi_test:FAIL torvalds#356/17 test_global_funcs/global_func17:FAIL torvalds#356 test_global_funcs:FAIL Further analysis shows llvm upstream patch [1] is responsible for the above failures. For example, for function bpf_fentry_test7() in net/bpf/test_run.c, without [1], the asm code is: 0000000000000400 <bpf_fentry_test7>: 400: f3 0f 1e fa endbr64 404: e8 00 00 00 00 callq 0x409 <bpf_fentry_test7+0x9> 409: 48 89 f8 movq %rdi, %rax 40c: c3 retq 40d: 0f 1f 00 nopl (%rax) ... and with [1], the asm code is: 0000000000005d20 <bpf_fentry_test7.specialized.1>: 5d20: e8 00 00 00 00 callq 0x5d25 <bpf_fentry_test7.specialized.1+0x5> 5d25: c3 retq ... and <bpf_fentry_test7.specialized.1> is called instead of <bpf_fentry_test7> and this caused test failures for #13/#77 etc. except torvalds#356. For test case torvalds#356/17, with [1] (progs/test_global_func17.c)), the main prog looks like: 0000000000000000 <global_func17>: 0: b4 00 00 00 2a 00 00 00 w0 = 0x2a 1: 95 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 exit ... which passed verification while the test itself expects a verification failure. Let us add 'barrier_var' style asm code in both places to prevent function specialization which caused selftests failure. [ Upstream commit 769e6a1 ] ui_browser__show() is capturing the input title that is stack allocated memory in hist_browser__run(). Avoid a use after return by strdup-ing the string. Committer notes: Further explanation from Ian Rogers: My command line using tui is: $ sudo bash -c 'rm /tmp/asan.log*; export ASAN_OPTIONS="log_path=/tmp/asan.log"; /tmp/perf/perf mem record -a sleep 1; /tmp/perf/perf mem report' I then go to the perf annotate view and quit. Furthermore, item 183 is the last item in the leaf. btrfs_log_prealloc_extents() is responsible for logging prealloc extents beyond i_size. It first truncates any previously logged prealloc extents that start beyond i_size. Then, it walks the filesystem tree and copies the prealloc extent items to the log tree. If it hits the end of a leaf, then it calls btrfs_next_leaf(), which unlocks the tree and does another search. However, while the filesystem tree is unlocked, an ordered extent completion may modify the tree. In particular, it may insert an extent item that overlaps with an extent item that was already copied to the log tree. This may manifest in several ways depending on the exact scenario, including an EEXIST error that is silently translated to a full sync, overlapping items in the log tree, or this crash. This particular crash is triggered by the following sequence of events: - Initially, the file has i_size=4k, a regular extent from 0-4k, and a prealloc extent beyond i_size from 4k-12k. The prealloc extent item is the last item in its B-tree leaf. - The file is fsync'd, which copies its inode item and both extent items to the log tree. - An xattr is set on the file, which sets the BTRFS_INODE_COPY_EVERYTHING flag. - The range 4k-8k in the file is written using direct I/O. i_size is extended to 8k, but the ordered extent is still in flight. - The file is fsync'd. Since BTRFS_INODE_COPY_EVERYTHING is set, this calls copy_inode_items_to_log(), which calls btrfs_log_prealloc_extents(). - btrfs_log_prealloc_extents() finds the 4k-12k prealloc extent in the filesystem tree. Since it starts before i_size, it skips it. Since it is the last item in its B-tree leaf, it calls btrfs_next_leaf(). - btrfs_next_leaf() unlocks the path. - The ordered extent completion runs, which converts the 4k-8k part of the prealloc extent to written and inserts the remaining prealloc part from 8k-12k. - btrfs_next_leaf() does a search and finds the new prealloc extent 8k-12k. - btrfs_log_prealloc_extents() copies the 8k-12k prealloc extent into the log tree. Note that it overlaps with the 4k-12k prealloc extent that was copied to the log tree by the first fsync. - fsync calls btrfs_log_changed_extents(), which tries to log the 4k-8k extent that was written. - This tries to drop the range 4k-8k in the log tree, which requires adjusting the start of the 4k-12k prealloc extent in the log tree to 8k. - btrfs_set_item_key_safe() sees that there is already an extent starting at 8k in the log tree and calls BUG(). Fix this by detecting when we're about to insert an overlapping file extent item in the log tree and truncating the part that would overlap. commit be346c1 upstream. The code in ocfs2_dio_end_io_write() estimates number of necessary transaction credits using ocfs2_calc_extend_credits(). This however does not take into account that the IO could be arbitrarily large and can contain arbitrary number of extents. Extent tree manipulations do often extend the current transaction but not in all of the cases. For example if we have only single block extents in the tree, ocfs2_mark_extent_written() will end up calling ocfs2_replace_extent_rec() all the time and we will never extend the current transaction and eventually exhaust all the transaction credits if the IO contains many single block extents. Once that happens a WARN_ON(jbd2_handle_buffer_credits(handle) <= 0) is triggered in jbd2_journal_dirty_metadata() and subsequently OCFS2 aborts in response to this error. This was actually triggered by one of our customers on a heavily fragmented OCFS2 filesystem. To fix the issue make sure the transaction always has enough credits for one extent insert before each call of ocfs2_mark_extent_written(). [ Upstream commit 5c0b485 ] syzkaller triggered the warning [0] in udp_v4_early_demux(). In udp_v[46]_early_demux() and sk_lookup(), we do not touch the refcount of the looked-up sk and use sock_pfree() as skb->destructor, so we check SOCK_RCU_FREE to ensure that the sk is safe to access during the RCU grace period. Currently, SOCK_RCU_FREE is flagged for a bound socket after being put into the hash table. Moreover, the SOCK_RCU_FREE check is done too early in udp_v[46]_early_demux() and sk_lookup(), so there could be a small race window: CPU1 CPU2 ---- ---- udp_v4_early_demux() udp_lib_get_port() | |- hlist_add_head_rcu() |- sk = __udp4_lib_demux_lookup() | |- DEBUG_NET_WARN_ON_ONCE(sk_is_refcounted(sk)); `- sock_set_flag(sk, SOCK_RCU_FREE) We had the same bug in TCP and fixed it in commit 871019b ("net: set SOCK_RCU_FREE before inserting socket into hashtable"). Let's apply the same fix for UDP. The fields in the hist_entry are filled on-demand which means they only have meaningful values when relevant sort keys are used. So if neither of 'dso' nor 'sym' sort keys are used, the map/symbols in the hist entry can be garbage. So it shouldn't access it unconditionally. I got a segfault, when I wanted to see cgroup profiles. $ sudo perf record -a --all-cgroups --synth=cgroup true $ sudo perf report -s cgroup Program received signal SIGSEGV, Segmentation fault. 0x00005555557a8d90 in map__dso (map=0x0) at util/map.h:48 48 return RC_CHK_ACCESS(map)->dso; (gdb) bt #0 0x00005555557a8d90 in map__dso (map=0x0) at util/map.h:48 openbmc#1 0x00005555557aa39b in map__load (map=0x0) at util/map.c:344 openbmc#2 0x00005555557aa592 in map__find_symbol (map=0x0, addr=140736115941088) at util/map.c:385 openbmc#3 0x00005555557ef000 in hists__findnew_entry (hists=0x555556039d60, entry=0x7fffffffa4c0, al=0x7fffffffa8c0, sample_self=true) at util/hist.c:644 openbmc#4 0x00005555557ef61c in __hists__add_entry (hists=0x555556039d60, al=0x7fffffffa8c0, sym_parent=0x0, bi=0x0, mi=0x0, ki=0x0, block_info=0x0, sample=0x7fffffffaa90, sample_self=true, ops=0x0) at util/hist.c:761 openbmc#5 0x00005555557ef71f in hists__add_entry (hists=0x555556039d60, al=0x7fffffffa8c0, sym_parent=0x0, bi=0x0, mi=0x0, ki=0x0, sample=0x7fffffffaa90, sample_self=true) at util/hist.c:779 openbmc#6 0x00005555557f00fb in iter_add_single_normal_entry (iter=0x7fffffffa900, al=0x7fffffffa8c0) at util/hist.c:1015 openbmc#7 0x00005555557f09a7 in hist_entry_iter__add (iter=0x7fffffffa900, al=0x7fffffffa8c0, max_stack_depth=127, arg=0x7fffffffbce0) at util/hist.c:1260 openbmc#8 0x00005555555ba7ce in process_sample_event (tool=0x7fffffffbce0, event=0x7ffff7c14128, sample=0x7fffffffaa90, evsel=0x555556039ad0, machine=0x5555560388e8) at builtin-report.c:334 openbmc#9 0x00005555557b30c8 in evlist__deliver_sample (evlist=0x555556039010, tool=0x7fffffffbce0, event=0x7ffff7c14128, sample=0x7fffffffaa90, evsel=0x555556039ad0, machine=0x5555560388e8) at util/session.c:1232 openbmc#10 0x00005555557b32bc in machines__deliver_event (machines=0x5555560388e8, evlist=0x555556039010, event=0x7ffff7c14128, sample=0x7fffffffaa90, tool=0x7fffffffbce0, file_offset=110888, file_path=0x555556038ff0 "perf.data") at util/session.c:1271 openbmc#11 0x00005555557b3848 in perf_session__deliver_event (session=0x5555560386d0, event=0x7ffff7c14128, tool=0x7fffffffbce0, file_offset=110888, file_path=0x555556038ff0 "perf.data") at util/session.c:1354 openbmc#12 0x00005555557affaf in ordered_events__deliver_event (oe=0x555556038e60, event=0x555556135aa0) at util/session.c:132 openbmc#13 0x00005555557bb605 in do_flush (oe=0x555556038e60, show_progress=false) at util/ordered-events.c:245 openbmc#14 0x00005555557bb95c in __ordered_events__flush (oe=0x555556038e60, how=OE_FLUSH__ROUND, timestamp=0) at util/ordered-events.c:324 openbmc#15 0x00005555557bba46 in ordered_events__flush (oe=0x555556038e60, how=OE_FLUSH__ROUND) at util/ordered-events.c:342 openbmc#16 0x00005555557b1b3b in perf_event__process_finished_round (tool=0x7fffffffbce0, event=0x7ffff7c15bb8, oe=0x555556038e60) at util/session.c:780 openbmc#17 0x00005555557b3b27 in perf_session__process_user_event (session=0x5555560386d0, event=0x7ffff7c15bb8, file_offset=117688, file_path=0x555556038ff0 "perf.data") at util/session.c:1406 As you can see the entry->ms.map was NULL even if he->ms.map has a value. This is because 'sym' sort key is not given, so it cannot assume whether he->ms.sym and entry->ms.sym is the same. I only checked the 'sym' sort key here as it implies 'dso' behavior (so maps are the same). I got a segfault, when I wanted to see cgroup profiles. $ sudo perf record -a --all-cgroups --synth=cgroup true $ sudo perf report -s cgroup Program received signal SIGSEGV, Segmentation fault. 0x00005555557a8d90 in map__dso (map=0x0) at util/map.h:48 48 return RC_CHK_ACCESS(map)->dso; (gdb) bt #0 0x00005555557a8d90 in map__dso (map=0x0) at util/map.h:48 #1 0x00005555557aa39b in map__load (map=0x0) at util/map.c:344 #2 0x00005555557aa592 in map__find_symbol (map=0x0, addr=140736115941088) at util/map.c:385 #3 0x00005555557ef000 in hists__findnew_entry (hists=0x555556039d60, entry=0x7fffffffa4c0, al=0x7fffffffa8c0, sample_self=true) at util/hist.c:644 #4 0x00005555557ef61c in __hists__add_entry (hists=0x555556039d60, al=0x7fffffffa8c0, sym_parent=0x0, bi=0x0, mi=0x0, ki=0x0, block_info=0x0, sample=0x7fffffffaa90, sample_self=true, ops=0x0) at util/hist.c:761 #5 0x00005555557ef71f in hists__add_entry (hists=0x555556039d60, al=0x7fffffffa8c0, sym_parent=0x0, bi=0x0, mi=0x0, ki=0x0, sample=0x7fffffffaa90, sample_self=true) at util/hist.c:779 #6 0x00005555557f00fb in iter_add_single_normal_entry (iter=0x7fffffffa900, al=0x7fffffffa8c0) at util/hist.c:1015 #7 0x00005555557f09a7 in hist_entry_iter__add (iter=0x7fffffffa900, al=0x7fffffffa8c0, max_stack_depth=127, arg=0x7fffffffbce0) at util/hist.c:1260 #8 0x00005555555ba7ce in process_sample_event (tool=0x7fffffffbce0, event=0x7ffff7c14128, sample=0x7fffffffaa90, evsel=0x555556039ad0, machine=0x5555560388e8) at builtin-report.c:334 #9 0x00005555557b30c8 in evlist__deliver_sample (evlist=0x555556039010, tool=0x7fffffffbce0, event=0x7ffff7c14128, sample=0x7fffffffaa90, evsel=0x555556039ad0, machine=0x5555560388e8) at util/session.c:1232 #10 0x00005555557b32bc in machines__deliver_event (machines=0x5555560388e8, evlist=0x555556039010, event=0x7ffff7c14128, sample=0x7fffffffaa90, tool=0x7fffffffbce0, file_offset=110888, file_path=0x555556038ff0 "perf.data") at util/session.c:1271 #11 0x00005555557b3848 in perf_session__deliver_event (session=0x5555560386d0, event=0x7ffff7c14128, tool=0x7fffffffbce0, file_offset=110888, file_path=0x555556038ff0 "perf.data") at util/session.c:1354 #12 0x00005555557affaf in ordered_events__deliver_event (oe=0x555556038e60, event=0x555556135aa0) at util/session.c:132 #13 0x00005555557bb605 in do_flush (oe=0x555556038e60, show_progress=false) at util/ordered-events.c:245 #14 0x00005555557bb95c in __ordered_events__flush (oe=0x555556038e60, how=OE_FLUSH__ROUND, timestamp=0) at util/ordered-events.c:324 #15 0x00005555557bba46 in ordered_events__flush (oe=0x555556038e60, how=OE_FLUSH__ROUND) at util/ordered-events.c:342 #16 0x00005555557b1b3b in perf_event__process_finished_round (tool=0x7fffffffbce0, event=0x7ffff7c15bb8, oe=0x555556038e60) at util/session.c:780 #17 0x00005555557b3b27 in perf_session__process_user_event (session=0x5555560386d0, event=0x7ffff7c15bb8, file_offset=117688, file_path=0x555556038ff0 "perf.data") at util/session.c:1406 As you can see the entry->ms.map was NULL even if he->ms.map has a value. 0x00005555557a8d90 in map__dso (map=0x0) at util/map.h:48 48 return RC_CHK_ACCESS(map)->dso; (gdb) bt #0 0x00005555557a8d90 in map__dso (map=0x0) at util/map.h:48 #1 0x00005555557aa39b in map__load (map=0x0) at util/map.c:344 #2 0x00005555557aa592 in map__find_symbol (map=0x0, addr=140736115941088) at util/map.c:385 #3 0x00005555557ef000 in hists__findnew_entry (hists=0x555556039d60, entry=0x7fffffffa4c0, al=0x7fffffffa8c0, sample_self=true) at util/hist.c:644 #4 0x00005555557ef61c in __hists__add_entry (hists=0x555556039d60, al=0x7fffffffa8c0, sym_parent=0x0, bi=0x0, mi=0x0, ki=0x0, block_info=0x0, sample=0x7fffffffaa90, sample_self=true, ops=0x0) at util/hist.c:761 openbmc#5 0x00005555557ef71f in hists__add_entry (hists=0x555556039d60, al=0x7fffffffa8c0, sym_parent=0x0, bi=0x0, mi=0x0, ki=0x0, sample=0x7fffffffaa90, sample_self=true) at util/hist.c:779 openbmc#6 0x00005555557f00fb in iter_add_single_normal_entry (iter=0x7fffffffa900, al=0x7fffffffa8c0) at util/hist.c:1015 openbmc#7 0x00005555557f09a7 in hist_entry_iter__add (iter=0x7fffffffa900, al=0x7fffffffa8c0, max_stack_depth=127, arg=0x7fffffffbce0) at util/hist.c:1260 openbmc#8 0x00005555555ba7ce in process_sample_event (tool=0x7fffffffbce0, event=0x7ffff7c14128, sample=0x7fffffffaa90, evsel=0x555556039ad0, machine=0x5555560388e8) at builtin-report.c:334 openbmc#9 0x00005555557b30c8 in evlist__deliver_sample (evlist=0x555556039010, tool=0x7fffffffbce0, event=0x7ffff7c14128, sample=0x7fffffffaa90, evsel=0x555556039ad0, machine=0x5555560388e8) at util/session.c:1232 openbmc#10 0x00005555557b32bc in machines__deliver_event (machines=0x5555560388e8, evlist=0x555556039010, event=0x7ffff7c14128, sample=0x7fffffffaa90, tool=0x7fffffffbce0, file_offset=110888, file_path=0x555556038ff0 "perf.data") at util/session.c:1271 openbmc#11 0x00005555557b3848 in perf_session__deliver_event (session=0x5555560386d0, event=0x7ffff7c14128, tool=0x7fffffffbce0, file_offset=110888, file_path=0x555556038ff0 "perf.data") at util/session.c:1354 openbmc#12 0x00005555557affaf in ordered_events__deliver_event (oe=0x555556038e60, event=0x555556135aa0) at util/session.c:132 openbmc#13 0x00005555557bb605 in do_flush (oe=0x555556038e60, show_progress=false) at util/ordered-events.c:245 openbmc#14 0x00005555557bb95c in __ordered_events__flush (oe=0x555556038e60, how=OE_FLUSH__ROUND, timestamp=0) at util/ordered-events.c:324 openbmc#15 0x00005555557bba46 in ordered_events__flush (oe=0x555556038e60, how=OE_FLUSH__ROUND) at util/ordered-events.c:342 openbmc#16 0x00005555557b1b3b in perf_event__process_finished_round (tool=0x7fffffffbce0, event=0x7ffff7c15bb8, oe=0x555556038e60) at util/session.c:780 openbmc#17 0x00005555557b3b27 in perf_session__process_user_event (session=0x5555560386d0, event=0x7ffff7c15bb8, file_offset=117688, file_path=0x555556038ff0 "perf.data") at util/session.c:1406 As you can see the entry->ms.map was NULL even if he->ms.map has a value. This is because 'sym' sort key is not given, so it cannot assume whether he->ms.sym and entry->ms.sym is the same. I only checked the 'sym' sort key here as it implies 'dso' behavior (so maps are the same).
