Board Games & Trading Card Games (TCG)

We do not allow physical board games and trading card games on IGDB, however many have standalone digital versions that are playable online or digitally. Those will be accepted as long as it meets the following criteria;

  • It is an official digital version of the physical game
  • It is of equal quality gameplay or interaction as its physical edition
  • It is considered a game by IGDB’s standards
  • It does not fall under the 'Content not allowed' category or go against other guidelines or content policies (such as gambling with real life money, game of skills etc.).
  • It is a standalone release that does not require any specific tool or additional game in order to play it.
  • It is not a tool for creation of maps or a companion app to a physical board game.

Of course, board and card games that were only ever released digitally are also allowed (as long as they follow our standard guidelines).

Examples of digital only board and card games allowed on IGDB:

Here are a few examples of board and card games not allowed on IGDB:

  • Flesh and Blood TCG
  • Digimon TCG

Essentially, just because the game has been recreated and uploaded to an online portal for board games, does not mean it is an officially licensed version of the game.
