politically correct
What is "politically correct"? Does it mean you've mastered politics, power, "humaning", to such a degree that everyone should believe in your view of it? Is there now mass consensus about "what is right"?
Apparently so, to those who knock you over the head with it (cf. televangelist). These days, websites will kick you out for not being "politically correct". They've banned free speech. Everyone knows the difference between vandalism (just to be disruptive) and dissent. It's not that hard. But, kewl website operators will censor you for using words that they don't like -- one's that aren't even defined in the dictionary. Just to blackball people that aren't part of their team.
Now the internet's not going to work if it isn't a neutral medium. Like Wikipedia requires: A NEUTRAL POINT OF VIEW. The fact that such a POV is a luxury, means you have to allow other kinds of speech. Just as cops can expect a few vandalism cases or petty riots until they've made the Enlightened Age.
In all but the most delicate of circumstances, remember, brutal honesty is better than sugar-coated bullshit.
